why doesn't anyone make stainless steel lug nuts? at least i can't find them. even the best chrome ones flake after a while. i know there can be a gauling problem but that should be able to be addressed with lubricants/ coatings. any help? this is currently a miata problem.
Someone is making good chrome lugnuts because the OEM chrome nuts on my Jeep look good after 17 years and 215k miles. Interestingly the one I replaced last year with an identical looking Autozone lugnut is rusted like it was on the Titanic.

The ones on my Jeep Wrangler had cheesy chrome caps over the lugnuts. They looked to be original.
My Liberty had those same chrome caps. After several replacements, because the caps come off, I went to Advance and got a full set of non capped replacements.
Intereting that they are not metric.
Those chrome caps were very prevalent on Chryler cars for the last ten years or so. I had the darned things on my 300M. Lost a few and then carried 2 different sized sockets and a breaker bar in the trunk. PITA big time.
