OK, I'm feeling like an idiot at the moment and am hoping that someone here can help...
I lifted my W124's windscreen wiper up to put something underneath it (prevent it from freezing to the windscreen) and it appears I lifted it too high up and it's 'locked' in the lifted position. No obvious way of unlocking it, so does anybody here know how to do that? There might be an obvious way but not to me in the middle of a snowstorm.
The only good part of this is that this prevented me from leaving my mum's village - several locals suggested that I might have had trouble getting to the bottom of the valley, let alone back up to the village.
I don't want to sound like an idiot either, but is it possible it's simply frozen there? I mean, literally frozen, as in ice buildup inside the parts you exposed by propping it up. If so, your routes to mobility include, but are not limited to, hair dryer, heat gun, defroster on max-high, and good old-fashioned sunshine.
According to my resident MB tech you just need to give it a firm push and it will go back.
Everything on a Mercedes has a 'service position'. That's where your wiper arm is. All you need to do is push down on the arm, you'll hear a 'snap' and it will go back to the regular position. It takes a bit of effort.

I want a W124. I always thought that was the coolest wiper.
Thanks for help - it wasn't frozen in that position. I originally thought it was, but it's got some further movement up. I'll try pushing it down if it hasn't frozen in that position again overnight.
@mtn - this one is going to be for sale in April. Pity it's on the wrong side of the Atlantic .
