95 Miata, no turbo or any aftermarket parts in the cooling system

Changed all my coolant hoses on my car 2 weeks ago and just filled the system up with water. in those 2 weeks (I daily drive it) the car ran great no issue

Today I go to flush the system and add fresh coolant. First thing I did was pull out the thermostat (I had a new on to replace it with) then I installed the neck back on the engine.

I took the plug out of the bottom of the radiator and stuck a garden hose in the top of the radiator and kept the water flow high. I let it sit idling for 15-20min then shut it off. I pulled the neck back off and installed a new T-stat

I filled the system back up with around a 60% water mix and added a bottle of redline water wetter. and thought all was well.

Well after a few errands around town the idle would drop so low it almost would stall. I figured maybe there were some air bubbles in the system.

So I came home and ran it with the cap off. at least an hour revving in up time to time. I'm pretty certain it has to be purged of all air by now.

The idle bounces up and down and stalls sometimes, Ive noticed that now the engine is pinging. Ive checked vacuum lines and there isnt any unplugged or cracked. In fact if I create a large vacuum leak the car idles better it seems

So by flushing my coolant with a hose and having the Rad drain plug all the way open. Did I overheat my engine ? Im guessing maybe the water from the hose was just passing right through the rad and maybe not making it into the lower coolant hose ?

Sorry for the long post. just trying to make it informative any help would be very much appreciated

Your spark plug wires need to be replaced.

In reply to Kramer:

New NGk blue wires less than 5k miles ago. installed new NGK plugs at the time too. I didnt get any water on them during the coolant flush.

Before I saw your guys suggestions I pulled my plugs to check the cylinders/plugs for any signs that it might be drinking a little coolant. everything looked normal. After I put everything back together the car ran like it should. So it seems like Kramer was right. None of the plug wires were loose or anything when I took them off though....ohwell its running fine now...it better stay that way
