My gf wants a FWD hatchback with a V6 and manual trans. Why she is so oddly specific idk.
By hatchback she means more of that wagon body style rather than something like a 350z styling. She always wants to buy a used car.....
The only thing I can find a a VW GTI. I don't want to have to fix nightmare electrical issues for her does anyone else make something like this?
Why she wants FWD and doesn't want a car with a turbo is she wants an easier car to drive and just doesn't like turbocharged cars. I tried getting her into a WRX wagon but she just hates turbo, idk why. She seemed to like this VR6 GTI but I have never owned VW and my uncle who is a master mechanic says that it would be a bad idea to get one.
She likes the R32 and Audi A3 3.2 as well, however they seem ridiculously overpriced for what they are. A 2004 selling for $15k? Kind of ridiculous.
Mazda 323? Later non-GTX models were available with the 1.8 V6, dunno if they were imported to the States though.

Well, the R32 sold for over $30K. It's also AWD, not FWD. I don't know if I'd buy one myself, but they are nice and capable cars. Fairly low production numbers combined with a reasonably enthusiastic following should keep values fairly stable. An R32 is the only car that might entice me to forget my general loathing of the VR6 (due to past experience).
A few of the Japanese manufacturers quietly offered manual transmission cars, but usually only with the base 4 cyl.

They weren't, the closest thing was the MX3 GS.
Or... you could just swap a 2.5 V6 in the 323.
Should be filed under the crappy C-List thread. Doesn't say if it's a stick or not, but I believe they're out there for under $14k.

would an H6 be acceptable ? like an Outback 3.0R (I think I drove a 6 speed one several years ago) ?
(granted it's AWD and not FWD)
There ARE no weird questions. No, wait, thats stupid questions. Yea, this is a weird question.

The v6 is the one that throws me. If she thinks she wants the power, she needs to drive a Mazdaspeed 3. WAY more power than Mazda's v6.
If you really want to confuse her, track down a Chevy Corsica hatchback with a 3.1 V6 and a 5 speed.
Hey, it meets the requirements
Camry wagon from downunder
Volvo Wagon? Later ones ditched the V6 for an inline 5, but its close enough, right?
SAAB 9000 Wagon? I think they came with the V6 as an option and they are GM based with better build quality so they are slightly easy to hop up/repair.
They sold those camry wagons in the US too, maybe not manual ones though.
Did that volvo c30 come with a 6?
Saab?

They never sold manual 100/A6s in the US unless you went for a FWD sedan. You had to step up to the S4/S6 to get a manual.

The V6 in the 9000/9-5 is an ATROCIOUS piece of E36 M3 and should be AVOIDED AT ALL COSTS. They also never made a 9000 wagon, just a 5-door.

My wife had one, pretty sure it was a us market car.(audi)

This.
I think you need to force SWMBO to just drive a turbo car and she if she likes it. I bet she likes it. If she doesn't, something is wrong with her.

It must have been FWD. It is very well documented that Audi never sold a quattro 100/A6 with a manual in this country.
In reply to SlickDizzy:
It was all wheel drive and manual and an audi 100.

Pretty sure the C30 comes with a 5cyl....turbo.
IMHO you need to ditch the V6 option if you don't want to get stuck maintaining a VW. Anything else that comes with a V6 won't be a traditional hatchback like she's looking for. Mazda6 has a hatchback model, but it looks like a normal sedan. Maybe the Maz6 wagon would work? Hard to find those in manual/V6 combo though. Honestly an RSX might be an option, but again it's more a fastback shape.
Price range?

Prove it. Find a single one for sale, anywhere in this country. Should be simple if what you say is true. C4 platform + V6 + quattro + manual = nonexistent in USA.

What do I have to prove? It was an Audi 100, with a manual transmission and all wheel drive.
Let me see if I can dig up a picture from ages ago. No idea if it was a us market car. Don't even care.
