I was shocked to see GRM full of mustangs in a recent issue. I've got a subscription again!!!
I know that a lot of people buy, build, race, mustangs, but I never felt like the GRM crowd was much into them. I've got an old 73 convertible so of course I was all up into the coverage. In here in the forums it doesn't seem that there are too many other mustang owners, but there must be right? I mean there are whole series devoted to the American muscle cars.
P.S.
Did they ever come up with a TV schedule for the Mustang races? And I read that World Challenge is being sponsored by another group.
Yeah... you're like the only subscriber that liked that issue...
We had a huge rant thread on it, I think I may have started it (cue innocent whistling)

Yeah I kinda get a anti mustang vibe from the folks on the board.
I'm not surprised though. A lot of us mustang owners are straight up a-holes.
There are at least 8 Mustangs in readers rides!
Heres mine
I think many of us look at Mustangs as great donors for other projects, like V8 RX7's or Factory Five Cobras, etc.
Outside of that, the suspension issues tend to drive the enginerd's a little batty (much like the 1st-gen RX-7's)
There are a few board members with Mustang's and they do quite well with them, have a bit of fun and aren't raging grinning polished persons.
wait... im an engineering student mustang owner..
yes the suspension geometry SUCKS, but the challenge of working around it can be interesting
luckily you aren't a shiny-happy person.
Mustang, thats like a 2 door P71? right?
Nah, the P71 has a better suspension

I'm a recovering Mustang nut. I wanted a 5.0 way bad in the 80s. Then I owned a few including a new 2000 GT. The suspension and the chassis is horrible, but that drivetrain is nice :). There's a 1990 engine+AOD sitting by my garage right now. I was kind of thinking Volvo 240, but it might end up in a second gen RX7. My next door neighbor was talking to me about it for his '56 Ford pickup. Considered getting a 2005+ but 3500lbs is too much.
Then new Corvette. No more Mustangs. Unless they do something really special.
I heard the suspension tune on the challenge Mustangs is pretty horrible.
Plus they're still 3400lbs+! Forget it!

Yeah, it slots in at 1AM between "NASCAR: Midnight" and "NASCAR: Midnight: The Highlights!"...
After the initial "push" into nearly every magazine I subscribe to (GRM, Hot Rod, Car Craft, PHR, MM&FF) I haven't heard a thing about this "Series" (thankfully!). I don't even know if they're going to finish all the races this season...
