Want to add one of these 80's classics to the stable. Love 'em both but can only afford one. I'm torn. What are your thoughts?

I'd like to change my vote. I vote GLH because it doesn't look like Ronald McDonald's car.
Since Dodge/Chrysler took their turbo a bit farther, development-wise, than Ford, I'd say Dodge. HOWEVER, you "could" swap out that Ford 4 cylinder for a V8...not possible with the Dodge.
Either car, in stock form, was the top of their respective heaps, model-wise.
Having driven V8 Mustangs and "tons" of FWD cars, the Mustang is the more "entertaining" car to drive.

That car was named the "EVOlution"...or something like that. The company that did the work was based in MD, then moved to AL. They also did a lot of work on 5 speed Mk VII swaps.
I've had an SVO, ahead of it's time for Mustangs. Great little car, and will more than likely have another one.
SVO.

Oh but the GLH can be made to handle better than the mustang, despite FWD. I don't think my GLH is far behind, for challenge money.

Thats amusing. I still pick the SVO
that is a toughie, but I'd much rather own the mustang.
I'd like to drive a goeslikehell one day though!

Why he swapped in a chevy motor instead of some Mopar flavor is beyond me.
S V O
The owners do seem a bit fanatical though. Especially if you want to part one out that may have a glimmer of life left in it.

Ummm.... aftermarket? Griggs, Maximum Motorsports, etc.
SVO by a country mile.
If you are planning on leaving it close to stock, be aware that the vast majority of what made an SVO "special" is long out of stock, including lower control arms/balljoints and a lot of the original braking system. Now, obviously, you can swap all that stuff out for a much better SN95 or aftermarket pieces anyway, it's just an FYI.
SVO! Getting 400 HP from the Turbo 2.3L is not that hard but it does require some aftermarket parts. Jack Roush got 800+ on the dyno from the Trans Am Mekur's without the mandated SCCA turbo inlet restrictor!
Getting the turbo dodge motor to 400hp requires aftermarket parts: Turbo and injectors. Many 400+hp motors on stock pistons and rods at one point or another.
This is a little different from the the other VS threads because you actually want to end up with one of them.
If this was a regular VS thread i would say the GLHS, because all things considered it was more 'out there' and pushed its enveloped more than the 4cyl mustang did.
But since you want to own one im going to go with SVO because at heart an omni is a crap-can, and while the fox body is also a crap can, it's 400 more lbs of crap which means you're less likely, to some extent, to die in it. So... SVO.
