This should be a fun one to follow...
I thought my work was shadetree then I saw the safety pin on the throttle shaft and saw blade holding up the radio.
I'm curious to see what he does about the interior and how many "new ones" he'll have to make, most of it should be available though.
How can you disassemble a 50 year old car and not get your hands dirty??? And not break a single bolt...
I'm jealous of the condition of that Z...

My dad had a '79 210 painted that brown. Hated that color but the 4-speed manual shifted like a hot knife in butter.
Oh man, I didn't realize it was My Mechanics! I don't follow many YouTube channels, but this I'll have to watch.
Please post more as it's available.
That was an extremely satisfying video to watch. I love that it was NO talking (often annoying), just sounds of wrenches and such. I loved it. And to see that sleek shell at the end.
It makes me envious of
a) SPACE
b) talent - I cant do what he's going to do. I could do what's in THIS video, but not what's coming up.
c) money. This will be expensive, but so awesome.
This guy is good.
Where he get all that dry ice?
My skill level isn't 1% of this. Amazing skills he has.
Back in '78 my Dad used to say that Datsuns came factory with rust. At that point we had owned 4 through out the years. Regardless, Datsuns are nice looking cars. They are how I was taught to drive stick. :0)
Nice video. I am interested in his dent puller attachment. It looks like it might be hand made. WAY BETTER than a Stud Welder and a slide hammer!
Watching him do bodywork is mesmerizing. Finding all that rust must make him wish he can spin a new body on a lathe.
The tab for the customer will be eye watering with all those hours spent shaping metal. If I had the money I'd go the restomod route and have the panels made in carbon fiber so I'd never have rust in the same spot ever.

Edd China used a stud welder with those keys and a bar on Wheeler Dealers before.
I also like that spot weld puller for tiny dimples.
The relative lack of rust on that car makes me jealous. The amount of hardware that broke just disassembling my 74 260 that I have been working on since s30's were cheap has created so much extra work that I still have nor finished. His body skills are very impressive, I would have thrown that hood away.
PDR is black magic.
The fact that the pinch welds were still there after suffering that kind of damage is also interesting. I'd have expected them to rot out immediately.

How about this? I priced a used one on Craigs and they wanted over $1000 for a used one.
I have made progress on the hood.

It kind of looks like one of these: They go under "Spot welding dent puller" on most of the internet.

I looked into them but none of them look like they will fit on my dent puller. They even have ones that are wired but mine is not a plug-in style. It is hard wired in place.
Man! He swiped that lead like a bodyman from the 50's. He is so casual with the bodywork he does. Oh there's some rust. Yawn.. cut it out.. ho hum. Make new panels, weld in. Grind and spray with Zinc spray. :0) Very nice video

Frame rails crushed and bad? Most order and weld in new ones.
He drills the spot welds out, removes them, cleans off the rust, hammers them back into shape and spots weld them back on. Crazy!

While the My Mechanics guy is extremely talented in many things, since only hands are visible in the video I wonder if he's doing all the work or if a specialist is helping out in some areas.
