Hey guys,
I know this won't be a popular car,but I just bought a new car to use during the summer. I have my 78 RX-7,and 74 REPU still, but I am trying to sell the REPU,as it doesn't fit me,and my two boys,so I can't enjoy it the way I would like. The RX-7 isn't going anywhere, and even though it has the rear seat installed in it they are really samll, and my boys can't fit back there with their car seats. This lead me to find a new sedan, coupe, wagon that I could cruise around in. I wanted something different,Japanese, and RWD. I wanted a RX-2/3/4 wagon,or coupe, but they all seemed way too expensive, too much work,or both. I stumbled upon this car online, and I instantly wanted it.

It isn't sexy, but it met my criteria, and it was in really great shape which helps in that I don't have loads of time to tinker like I want. It is a one year only model as the 2-door hatchback, and has a model specific transmission in it. The sednas, and wagons of 78 only came with 4-speeds,and this one is a dog-leg 5-speed. I just paid for it,and it is being shipped out via DAS from TX to MA. I would like to replace the bumpers with UK,or Asian market examples, and I would like to get the SSS grille from an Asian car,but so far I am just looking forward to getting the car.
Let me know what you think. I know it isn't a "real" 510 already, and that is fine with me. I hear it is called a Stanza in OZ,and a Violet in the UK.

That's awesome! I love the orange. I've never had an orange car. :)
I really think Datsunfreak is more of a old school Datsun "dealer" than a photographer. I really have no idea how he finds these cars, maybe they find him.
Chris
How could anyone not like that car. I know the internet makes everything look nicer than it is, but that one seems almost perfect.
Thanks guys,
I didn't think it would garner much praise mainly because all my friends think it s ugly. I don't think it's ugly, but then again I think the SA chassis RX-7 is the nicest of the RX-7 world which isn't a popular opinion.
914Driver you have an email.
Chris
It is ugly, but that's all relative anyway.
Ugly compared to many other cars of its generation, but since many of those cars are now pretty rare, they are all beautiful, even the ugly ones.

Really? Let me see pics. I think these cars a ultra rare here in the US especially the 2-door hatchback. What struts would youy reccomend, and where should I get them?
The 2 door hatchback is ultra rare. Trying to find model-specific parts is nearly impossible.
Mine is a stripped out pile of crap. Some moron gutted the interior (I assume) trying to get all he could out of the 94 hp. One day, while it was broken down on the side of the road, another moron broke two of the windows out. I think mine will wind up in the Challenge.
I'm still researching the suspension myself, so I don't really know what to recommend for struts.
Looks way nicer with alloy wheels on it. I think that may be my first upgrade. I also like the flat black paint job.
Wow, that Datsun is pretty mint! Are you going to drive it during the winter? I hope not!

Awesome. Personally I think the hubcaps and whitewalls look great, but so would a nice pair of Watannabes or something, I guess.
The colour really makes the car, it's so '70s cool.

No chance of it getting any use during the season of salt which officially began today on the south shore.
I really like the orange as well, and couple it with my yellow RX-7,and green REPU I have a very 70's garage.
I cut one of those up for scrap ages ago. Don't worry, the strut towers in the front had rotted completely out so it wasn't saveable.
They're ugly but not as ugly as my 1974 Datsun 710 was.
Just remember, it doesn't have the "true 510" rearend.

Wheels and bumpers would completely change your car.
Nice looking car there Bamalama. I agree that wheels, and tires will set off the car very well. That, and the better looking bumpers, bumper mounted tag lights, and the body molding removed has made that car look really sweet.
I noticed the Japanese Nostalgic Car forum sticker on your car. Have you been to that board and checked out the yellow HL the guy in Thailand (I think it was Thailand) built? It's insane.
Yes I have. That car is the reason why I want the different bumpers, and the SSS grille. You are right that car is in Thailand. Datsunfreak put the JNC sticker on it.

Good that you know of that site.
Your car will look killer w/ some period JDM wheels and a drop.
Good get.
ugly? put it up against a pacer...
This is very cool.I just went on DAS' website, and they have a vehicle locator. It turns out my car is in transit, and in Emporia,KS. It should be to the local hub in MA on the 18th of December. Midwest GRM'rs keep your eye out for an ugly orange Stanza/510 A10 on a car carrier near you.
