For therecord, Nanobeavers pre-dates nano-bunnies.

But there is this:

Yeah, it leads me to believe the injector is probably not the culprit if it's rich enough at startup to not tick and after a long enough drive the tick is gone (long term fuel trim adjusting is my guess along with the knock sensor pulling timing).

Borrowed a really nice Mac leak down tester. Every cylinder passed with flying colors. If I could hold the crank it was 100%.

#3 plug now has some carbon on one side so it's not super lean. Put it all back together and the tick is there but super light but the coolant temp was still 140* at start up. Makes noise from 600rpm until ~2000 and is gone until redline.

I have no idea at this point. Ride until it dies at this point I guess

I think we all know what my response to that would be.

update on this for those that care or are following along from home: 500 miles since last installment. #3 is no longer lean. All 4 look normal. I've been running cleaners through the fuel and Shell/BP 93 top tier fuel. IT's running smoother as we go along. I have a feeling there was some varnish from the 18 months of inactiveness. So for now I'll just keep feeding it expensive fuel to clean it out.

In other news there is an exhaust leak up front. It's small, but I can hear it. I hope to get it on a lift here at work and see if we can locate that leak. The exhaust is a little crusty and I'm afraid if I have to touch it I'll have to replace it all.... from the manicat back.

Shell premium was the only fuel that worked for my 3.4 Tacoma with the TRD blower.
