Similar concept but different end product really. If the GRM forums made a Hall of Fame for build threads, which ones would be in it? There's some pretty amazing ones on here, but I'm sure I'm missing a few, and it'd be neat to compile a list of peoples online documentation of their respectively insane projects. In my mind, a few jump out immediately-
- the Grosh
- irish44j's 318i rallycross build thread
- Nohome's volviata.
There really are so many, it's hard to pick. What does everyone else say?
I hardly look at the non-automotive ones but loosecannon's car formerly known as an MGB and NOHOME's Volviata are two that really stand out, among those that are still running anyway. Nashco's Hybrid Fiero build was another great one (and also a top Challenge car).
The Grosh and the V12 MG are 2 of my favorites.
Who was building that 30s Datsun replica? That was awesome.

Dr. Boost.
No. That was JoeyM, I think.
I haven't heard from JoeyM for awhile come to think of it.
I vote TunaTruck, SanFord, and t25torx's flips till he got to the Cobra Daytona Coupe collection.

I vote for the ones already mentioned and I'll add the ones by DocBrown, too.
Doc Brown's miata/megasquirt/dyno project is awesome.
Irishj's e30 rally build, the rx7 now merkur build threads.
I like the Tuna Truck for the ongoing story. The Volvo Miata mashup is fascinating because of all the little bits and pieces that are needed to actually do sometjing like that. Hungary Bill's threads are always interesting because he presents the problems as he finds them. Sometimes he has a solution and sometimes he's searching for it. Irish44's BMW is just an epic account of the evolution of a car.
Someone also did a really good concise build of a Lexus into a LeMons car. It was one of the few threads where it was so well documented that you could pretty much repeat what he had done just off of the thread.
Long term I tend to follow threads that tell a story, it's not just the car, it's the process. You learn how a person thinks and how they struggle with problems. In a perfect world I'd throw a party where Bill's Alfa and the Tuna Truck would be parked in front of the Grosh and we'd all be eating barbecue and hanging out.

Toymans Jetboat and his jet engine out of a turbocharger.
I was pretty bummed when Woody stopped his Model A build for the Race of Gentlemen
Ditchdigger / Jumper K. Balls Fiat 850 Sedan and the Ferrari Resto thread.
Nocones Midget.
NOHOME's Molvo.
Voorhen's (?) Ferrari 308 bi-turbo LS.
Oh, and Go3wheeler.
I forgot about JoeyM's Datsun build. That was another great one. Looks like it's been on hold for a couple of years.

Yeah, lots of 'Oh crap I forgot about that one!' in this thread on my behalf right now.
I totally forgot about TunaTruck and Nocones' Midget.
Irish's e36 thread was awesome.
I'm currently enjoying the Jalapa thread from corsepervita.
The Grosh is generally entertaining too

Oh, Go3Wheeler. A complete trainwreck, and in such a nice location. If he hadn't had such delusions of adequacy I'd have pointed him to half a dozen of my friends from home who could've helped so much and had fun doing it.
I seemed to have missed go3wheeler. Anybody have a link?

Ben_Modified's build threads are usually short a sweet since he works fast and isn't asking for much feed back, but oh. my. god.
