What about a smog pump? I know that people use those on all sorts of small engines for supercharging. No idea if it is big enough or efficient enough for this application though.

Apparently I’ve failed to explain that this is a vintage car. Part of the charm is to keep old things old. It’s not about just making more power if I wanted to do that I know how to swap a Miata motor in.
A supercharger is very much in the keeping of the character of old. The factory was supercharging these cars in the 1930’s. Yes it may be fudging to use a “modern” supercharger but most superchargers look pretty much the same. So they sorta get a pass from fellow enthusiasts. ( although if we see a shirrock or Italmechanica , Judson, Wade etc a respectful nod is directed at the owner since those were available and used back then)
Jackson Racing used to have a kit to put an M45 on the Focus Zetec engine. Don't think the kit is available any more but you might be able to find one in the For Sale sections of some of the Focus forums.
Cobalt SS had a supercharger. No idea what size , but the engine was a 2 liter and made 200 HP, so probably too big. Whatever you can find will likely need to be underdriven anyway.

Maybe not! The Eaton 45 is designed for up to 2 liters. And if I remember correctly wasn’t the Cobalt SS a twin cam 4 valve? It wouldn’t take a lot to turn that into 200 ho.
Thank you, I’ve got some research to do. Sorry model 62. From 2005-2007 then they turbo charged it.
Good idea though. Thanks.
I am pretty sure Cobalts had M62s. I never looked up the specs but they looked to be about the same size as the '62 that I acquired.
