It's been napping mostly since the Charlotte race, but we're getting ready for another few rounds in 2012. Look for more updates in the next couple weeks, but here's the first step in our Lincoln refreshment efforts.

No, Toyman. We are NOT going to revive the ThunderTerd.
Crap, I had almost forgotten about the interest this car stirred in me. I came SOOOOOOOO close to jumping on one of the 2 or 3 LSCs inmy area after this project appeared in the mag. The only consolation is that I wouldn't have been racing mine, at first, so I didn't think I needed to look at any more Lincoln CL ads.
BTW, if anyone knows where I can pick up a nice late '80s/very early '90s Fox-bodied Continental sedan (the "bustle-backed model that Lincoln introduced to compete with the "bustle-backed Seville), let me know. When I lived in Memphis, there were a couple in the area, but no sellers at that time.

That would make a much better starting point than our Lincoln. Genuine Fox-chassisness and it wasn't already "prepped" by the roundy-round reject that used mitered corners for the cage. Do it!
Tommy - lift with your legs, not your back.

Oh, no. Don't even consider a 3.8 and automatic. BTDT. Now if you can find one of the 5.0 LX versions that would be the shizznit.
Am I the only one who sees red flags when someone tries to sell a car with 35K miles for less than 3 or 4 THOUSAND dollars?
I'm in Florida (i keep telling myself I need to include that when I'm asking "have you seen..." stuff. There WAS an LSC or 2 for sale on the St. Auggie CL a few months ago...now gone so I went and looked on Atlanta's CL. I couldn't find any, but saw a very nice Mark III for only $3,500. Very tempted.

My local expectation of a 26 yr old car w/ 35k miles is that Grandma bought it right before the accident/stoke/heart-attack, etc and it has sat unattended in the garage since then. It may shine decently after a quick wash but it runs like sh!t, has bad tires, sticky calipers and more. At retail prices it needs far more work than it would ever be worth. Now, add a lot of GRM in there and toss the motor, upgrade the brakes and beef up the rubber and it could be good.
Yeah, that is a sub $1k car.
Of course, most the time they try to sell the car like they have a preserved time capsule, which this is likely not.
