Fox-body Mustangs were based on a platform designed for the Fairmont.
Designed for the Fairmont? The fox chassis was just a cut-down Fairmont, hahaha.
It takes a special kind of... special... to be masochistic enough to know anything about suspension and yet continue to dump money into one of these things.
I've got a 4th gen for sale right now
it's a quick car, handles well enough. though the 1st gen altima I had a week earlier was more fun to me.
I still need to get the S13 back into shape

but what exactly is different between a Prelude and a similar-year 2-door Accord besides some body panels
I dont have anything funny to say so im going to go with the availability of the SH ATTS system.

I'm on the Mustang side of the fence here, so please forgive my ignorance, but what exactly is different between a Prelude and a similar-year 2-door Accord besides some body panels?
Nothing that matters.
But really, the available motors are different. F vs. H series.
Though honestly, i'd rather start with the F-series in the Accords.

SHATTS? Seriously? Sounds crappy

Colin Chapman once said, "Any suspension will work if you don't let it."

Perfect coming from the man who provided us with the suspension design that works best with no movement. Camber curves? pssshffft. Who needs those?

Just saw this video from the Chronicles blog.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O3k5Zu8Yiog&feature=player_embedded
According to the commentary it's still running stock brakes.

I think they're underappreciated. Fact is, a demographic who thinks 3k lbs is heavy is going to skip right over a lot of good cars.

OK, I'll bite. Why would you want to use the SOHC version? Heavier internals/lower comp pistons for boost?
btw - That video was a fun watch. Good to see one built to its' potential, even if the paint and spoiler aren't my cup o' tea. That generation was always my favorite.

Google "G23 Vtec."
F block, H head, B trans, K pistons = INSANE power on the relatively cheap.
And yes... F23 + boost = awesome.

Cool, I figured it was something along those lines. I hadn't really considered the F series until I saw that some guy named Adam Jabaay (sp?) (who was the leadership in a challenge team) also built a stupid fast, crazy cheap EF chassis with a boosted F motor.
Still curious about what's different about the F block vs. the H block if you're just going to use the H head anyway? Forgive me, as I'm really only familiar with the B-series.

The F23 in particular has a slightly smaller bore, and a longer stroke than the H equivalent (H23).
H-series also use FRM sleeves, F series use cast iron sleeves.
It mostly becomes a moot point once you do an all out build, but the F-series stock sleeves are WAY stronger than the H sleeves.
