Don't forget tq,area under the curve makes a much bigger difference than comparing peak power to peak power.

http://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=607967 someone on miata.net is starting a build thread, thought I'd share the link for others interested
For some reason the link worked in the preview, but not when I post

good info here...
200 rwhp 3-4k cost, even less if you get a car and part it out...

Reading this the gain is you are getting a brand new modern motor with a factory warranty and a modest boost in performance. All that for a fantastic price.
I've now witnessed 2 of these builds start and drive on forums. Saving my pennies and hunting for parts cars since I heard of it, but getting my concrete floor in and a lift have become priority, so maybe next year I'll get to start on it.
I think it's a fantastic swap for people looking to a reasonable, reliable power increase.
I've raced against MT Motorsports, their swap is the real deal, they appear to have the fastest car to hit chumpcar since a 240sx with a V8 and unlimited budget. Would a turbo Miata have the same reliability as MT Motorsports has demonstrated in chumpcar? I don't know, I'm just asking... eg. bunch of races 7-12 hour duration. I think they had a fuel pump issue once a couple of years ago, but that's all I'm aware of.
