Nice find...If you care, I have a set of FD 16x8s which I would be happy to let go of...

Found one right here:
I saw that one too. You can tell the guy is a tool by the way the ad is written, and that he doesn't know what he is looking at. My friend who's looking for one of these (Eric) called the guy and confirmed his tool-ness. Still, it might be a good car if you can get him to come off his "It's been for sale for two months BUT I KNOW WHAT IT'S WORTH AND WON'T TAKE A PENNY LESS" nonsense.

Stage 1 head means "I don't know what I'm looking so I'll just spout off a bunch of nonsense."

Wonder what stage my built head is.
Jason and i are cutting apart an F2 head this winter to take a look at the ports and such if you're interested in F2 power things.
He thinks he's going to make 500whp on a true F2T. I'm skeptical, but cautiously optimistic.

I think the blue is awesome! Those seats look amazing, what's different with the MX6 ones?

Different design. Slightly narrower, more bucket-y, and sit you almost 2" lower.

Thanks. These things fit almost anyone's budget, but anyone who wants one will have to do some work to track one down. Now that SearchTempest no longer shows results in real time in the multi-city search, I had to use the Craigslist app to scour the entire country with any amount of efficiency. I spent about a half-hour searching, every couple of days, for about a month before this popped up.
It won't be here until the very beginning of October.
I might start a build thread, but it would be very slow moving. This car is all about me having a nice example that I can preserve and make tasteful tweaks to. It won't become highly modified. Also, for the time being I'm devoting most of the time I have to the '86 626 coupe V6 project.
In reply to JamesMcD:
That works. It looks like a really nice driver, but a build thread would be fun so you could give us all the details of the car and highlight the little tweaks over time.

Maybe it means the timing belt cover and exhaust heat shield are taken off to make it look more like a race car? Also, how likely is it that the grand national parked next to it is an 85 or older one without the intercooler and stuff the good ones have lol.
The car is getting picked up tomorrow! W00t! Also, it is coming in an enclosed trailer I didn't pay for (someone else canceled so I got the spot at my original rate in order to fill up the truck)! So I saved about $500.
After a few delays, the car got dropped off a couple days ago. I am happy.
It is exactly as the seller described, which means it isn't as good as it appears in the pictures posted at the beginning of this thread. But that's OK.
It's an odd car for several reasons. A turbo 626/MX6 without a sunroof is very rare. I'd never even seen one in person or even in pictures before now....And it doesn't have the fog lights integrated into the headlights as turbos cars typically do....And it doesn't have a turbo driver's-side sun visor (with a warning about letting the car cool down before shutting off)....And it has a non-turbo exhaust...And it has non-turbo sway bars. So I was, initially, pretty sure that it had been converted from a non-turbo car by a previous owner. But the VIN checks out, it is a real original turbo car. Weird.
This thing is amazingly rust free. That might be the best thing about it. The bottom of the car looks like it has 50k on it, not 235k (yeah that's the mileage.)
It runs and drives AWESOME. It has NO rattles at all and just goes down the road perfectly. It feels new. The Eibachs and Tokicos make a great combo. It's got a brand new set of 205/60-15 Goodyear Eagles and new brakes all around. The only detraction from how it drives is that it needs some shifter bushings. No biggie.
The interior is pretty nice. The guy converted it to normal seat belts from the "motor-mouse" ones using GC parts, so there are holes cut in the B-pilar trim for the anchors, and the A-pilar trim still has the slot for the original anchor to ride in. But over all it's nice. It needs a different steering wheel because the grip has come loose from the frame around 12 o' clock. It's nice to sit in Mazda GD seats again. Soooo comfy.
OK, the bad stuff.
The paint job is amateurish. Every vertical surface is quite orange peely. I'm hoping that I can fix this with some wet sanding.
The driver's side rear quarter has plastic in it and you can see that it does due to it not being sculpted just right in some areas. This is something that most people would have to have pointed out to them but it kinda bothers me.
The A/C needs some attention.
The under-hood insulation blanket needs to be replaced.
The trim around the windshield is missing.
Overall, I am very pleased with my purchase. The car was challenge priced and with shipping, I paid $2850. A lot of people would say that's too much money for a 25 year old Mazda sedan. But given my location, I had no expectation of finding a good example anywhere near me, and had to "pay to play," so to speak.
I've never seen a GD 626 with the fog lights in the headlights. This has been frustrating for me, because all the GD MX6 passenger headlight reflectors break off, and try finding a replacement that still has the reflector attached.
Oh! I'll just use a 626 part because it bolts in. LOLNOPE. I just threw two pairs of minty 626 headlights in the trash last week, actually. Both from turbo cars. No foglights in the housings.
As for the swaybars... very early GD cars had pretty puny sway bars (Much like the springs, there were something like 5 different sway bar combos throughout the chassis run), don't know what the non-turbo units look like, but i have a pair of stock MX6 Turbo bars sitting here if you want them. I think the front bar is from a 90-92, since it's the 1" hollow bar, and i have both a 1gA and 1gB rear bar. I think they're both the same, which means... puny. Come on out, lend a wrenching hand, and they're yours. I probably have a set of used-but-serviceable Addco endlinks as well.
Grab an FC RX7 steering wheel, i think there's a minty one on Ebay right now for $40.
Car looks great!!!! I'm supremely jealous of the lack of sunroof.
