I only have room for one, maybe a second pusher fan. My one 14” fan will cover about 50% of the radiator. I could get a smaller 10” for additional flow. This is for the 1uzfe v8.

Main question here is “do I shroud, and if I am supposed to shroud a pusher, how does that inhibit airflow at speed?”

The car is a primarily track and fun, but will make frequent weekend trips and to car meets. I don’t live in a congested city either.

Seems to me, if you could shroud just the diameter of the fans (basically a close-fitting ring around the fans with and as much depth as you have room for) you should get best available efficiency through the fans AND still have the full Monty exposed to air flow at speed.

Pushed fans are less efficient and shouldn’t be shrouded on the front side.  Unless you know how many CFM you’ll need to move to keep the radiator in it’s working range, you’ll likely want to plan for some testing and expect to change the configuration.

Proper shrouding on the backside to leverage the change from high to low pressure can yield a lot of efficiency.  This is why vented hoods can be really effective at improving efficiency of the cooling system with few negative aero impacts.  Venting out the bottom of the engine bay works, but at the expense of front end grip at high speed.

Pusher fan:  Don't shroud.  Shrouding would require that all airflow go through the fan diameter before contacting the radiator.  Just get the fan as close as possible to the core.

It's kind of the opposite of what you want from a puller fan.

I know. It would be nice to run a puller, and that could be possible if I moved the radiator in front of the front bulkhead and angled it. But then that’s getting into more work than I want.

since I’m not daily driving, nor hot lapping it, it just needs to work. Not be 110% efficient. (I’m realizing I concede far to easily on these topics...)

the only reason I don’t do it is that I hoon on back roads and if I smash a tree head on, then the radiator takes it.
