I found out that they do Rallycross in Socal. Then the SCCA rules say this

6.1 ELIGIBLE VEHICLES A RallyCross event is open to any fixed-roof production based vehicle (including convertibles with a factory hardtop attached, targa-types with factory panel in place,t-tops with factory panels in place) that can pass safety inspection. If the EventChairman after consultation with the Event Safety Steward determines at his discretion that a vehicle cannot safely negotiate the course, it may be excluded.

Anyone done it??

With a hardtop and a roll bar, you should be fine. This formula worked at last year's Rallycross National Championships. Keith Little drove the car, Kim Little took the picture. Nice folks!

Or, for the price of a Miata hard top, you can just buy a whole Impreza.

Except if you already have a roll cage, and hardtop on your track day Miata, all you would need would be some suitable tires and perhaps a ride height increase.

I've thought of it, but always found myself working when we had anything local. Oh, am I hate mucking with my ride height. It is NOT rallycross compatible as it sits.

I thought about building a rallycross Miata last year, but I decided I'd be banging my helmet into the hardtop too often, even with a lowered seat.

I will have a 6 pt harness in mine so hopefully that will keep my head from hitting the hardtop - that and I'm short.
