So I got konis and GCs on my 92 civic. The konis are ready to be replaced/rebuilt.

Anyone got suggestions? I thought about rebuilding them, but I can't seem to find a definite answer for cost. The thought of selling the used ones and buying new ones has come to mind.

IIRC rebuilds are in the $90 + shipping each range. Jay at GC can do it but if you need it to be "authorized"... (he probably ships them out too)

From the Koni website:

OTHER KONI AUTHORIZED REBUILD FACILITIES In addition to the KONI Service Center in Hebron, KY, there are three KONI authorized rebuild facilities in North America. They are TrueChoice in Hilliard, OH (800-388-8783), Pro Parts West in Canoga Park, CA (818-888-8904), and Performance Shock Inc. @ Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, CA(800-965-5664).

I had mine rebuilt and revalved for the spring rates I'm using on my GC coilover kit at Pro Parts aka TriPoint Engineering. Pick the rebuilder closest to you.

Jay at GC doesn't rebuild/revalve Konis. I asked him last December after a few other people on other boards stated the same thing.

Last I checked with the typical parts and rebuild cost, it runs about 150 or so a corner.

I went and got Bilsteins instead... ~60 a corner :p

It is possible that I had my conversations mixed up but Jay did send me a set of custom valved Koni SAs for the rear of my race car so he either sends them out or has the capability in-house.

Truechoice will do Koni rebuilds. Not cheap. 150 each labor, plus parts. I would like to know if anyone will do them cheaper.

Will they do them at a race (say Daytona 24) if you let them know before hand so they can have the correct parts waiting?

I didn't think Koni sports (yellows, rebound dampening only) were rebuildable. Has anybody had sports rebuilt before?

Lee etal. are really good about helping out at racing events. They were doing rebuild services at Solo Nats really inexpensively.

I'm in the same boat as I have Koni sports/ ground/control coil over set up on my Integra .Was wondering if these shocks can be rebuilt to handle 1000lb spring rates? GC said they don't rebuild them. Have'nt called around enough, or gotten any straight answers, assuming Per is referring to Lee at Koni NA? I really need an inexpensive/affordable shocks to handle said rates. Cant afford Motons/JRZs. any thoughts/recomendations before I call Lee

Yeah, Lee at KoniNA. I bought my 8212's and sent them there to get the stroke shortened so they fit "just right" on my Locost. They limit the suspension droop.

Call up the Custom Shop at Koni NA HQ and ask them.

Spax, I've heard, are either "on" or "off." It may depend on what time of the day they were made, seeing as that study was out a couple years ago showing most Englishmen to be drunk after lunch. I've heard of too many incidents of Esprits dropping to the ground because the Spax shock busted in half.

Random month old bump

I might be in the market for some Koni's with 12,000 mile on them. Not high mileage by any means, but I don't know how much longer I'll have this car, as a I really enjoy it.

Anyway, Hess, are you saying that Lee at KoniNA will rebuild them cheaper at KoniNA, or only at Solo Nationals?

It'd be nice to find someplace that rebuilt/revalved OTS Yellows for less than $100, otherwise your almost better going with Bilsteins just for the cheapest revalve cost.
