¡Hola Compadres!
I am in the need of a (some) countersink bit(s) for some projects.
I'm looking to countersink holes for 3/8" flathead screws, but have eyes on ranges between #10 and 1/2" fasteners.
HF version performed as expected, and couldn't even be used as a hammer afterwards.
My only other local option are Irwin countersinks, but they're asking $25~ and I'm not entirely sure I want to gamble that.
Our shop buys from MSC, go for the middle of the road stuff. Or find a local regrinder to buy from or get cheap tools repaired.
Any specific brand recommendations?
I've only used the KEO brand and had good luck with them.
Make sure you verify which countersink angle the screws are and that you get the correct bits to match. There are three typical angles: 82deg, 90deg, and 100deg. Make sure you know what you need up front because they don't cross pollinate very well.
I have used the 6 flute one like linked above, and I have used everything else down to the single flute and thru hole countersinks. Just keep your speeds down to reduce chatter.
