I did a quick search on this, but kept coming up answers regarding questions about painting cars, sealing up hard tops, and doing general maintenance. When you all build cars for competition, do you remove the door weather stripping? It's not much weight, but it is some weight. It does keep the car water tight for storage outside, where mine will be kept, which is nice; but, it probably burns, and so removal of a fire hazard seems wise. Consultation of the SCCA GCR doesn't seem to prohibit it except in Spec MX-5. GCR specifically allows it in American Sedan. GCR seems to allow it sort of by category in STU (where I want to be) by suggesting that you can remove insulation, sound proofing, all trim (except the dash pad), and things that are there for the comfort of the driver and/or passengers.
