Real revival from the past- I finally got the car up on a hoist a couple of days ago, and honestly see no reason not to restore it.
I know it's not overly rational, but realistically, I can take my time while I do it- the body work isn't nearly as bad as I've seen in other cars- the worst is in the rear fenders, which can be bought for reasonable money. The damage I anticipate behind it- of which I've seen some pictures of other cars- not terribly bad to fabricate.
The other common rust is the frame where the front subframe attaches- right at the sway bar. Again- there is rust, but not nearly as bad as I was expecting. And not horrifically bad to repair from what I can see.
The engine runs great- so it's a matter of cleaning it up inside and out. And probably changing the catalyst. And finding where the oil is leaking from....
Interior will need some attention- I should fix the long broken lid in the center console. And the seats need recovered, which I will do in leather.
The other factor- there are quite a few Miatas out there, sure. Not nearly as many red ones as I was expecting- and that's what I want.
The last factor is all personal- this is the first car that I've ever owned from new. And I really like the car- I can easily live with it as a not so often car.
Even though I've not done build threads in the past- I'll try to do one on this car. But it's not going to get started until I sell a GTV race car I have.

Sweet. Jesus. I love that.
EDIT: I lost my train of thought while splooging over your GTV. I would be interested in the particulars of this when you decide to sell (despite tipping my hand too far for negotiation purposes). Is it vintage logbooked?
I have to sell a race car of my own so timing is a long shot but that is a very pretty example of my DREAM vintage race car.
Some seem interested in a tangent, so I'll continue to draw the line. It's a 74 I got probably 10 years ago- it was an IT car that competed in the Pennsylvania area- the owner was from almost dead center in the state. (Back in 2004, I had a '67 that I should have done as a challenge car+ vintage racer, but I found this thinking it was all done...). I did a lot of body repair to it, and removed some weight- it was pretty close to the low end for ITB. It took a lot of time, and energy- and was "finished" a few years ago- but it needs a clutch change- it slips under power.
With an SCCA log book, it fits into any vintage racing. 2.0l mildly done, but it seems stout. Even had a pahnard rod set up fabricated for it- but not installed.
Energy ran out, interests changed, and the car deserves to be raced.
I'll post it in the open classifieds next week.

You cannot post pics of Italian models prancing around in your driveway and expect us to focus on reviving some used up commoner can you?
In reply to Giant Purple Snorklewacker:
So it's pretty obvious why I like Alfas.
