My friend is looking at getting a new car and her first choice is a Scion tC. I was trying to think of good looking coupes other then the tC to recommend to her. Think around the same price, good looking, a little sporty and good fuel economy and well new. All I could think of was the Forte Coupe.
for the dollar, theres not much out there...18" wheels, 180hp, 6 speeds with 3 pedals, great stereo, a reasonable, factory backed aftermarket (TRD)...TC has a lot going for it...I think around $18k? If I could get my hands on that with 2 more doors, Id be sold. Whats a base Genesis Coupe go for?
The tC starts just under $20k. The CR-Z is about the same price. The Genesis coupe starts at $22k.
I think I'd print money to get a Genesis Coupe over the tC. Never drove either but RWD & a turbo vs. Wrong Wheel Drive and Toyota excitement?
Edmunds has the 2011 TC base at $18275.
Realistically, the Eclipse and Mustang are right there too (although the stang at base prices is certain to be uninspiring).
Dealer markup also exists on the Eclipse and Mustang. Not on the tC. That's the big part of the Scion business model.
The list price? That's what you pay. End of story.
Mustang maybe, but the Eclipse? These things aren't exactly flying off lots.
Probably true... i haven't priced one, because i think i have about.....negative infinity interest in one.
I don't know about the V-6 Mustang 300bhp is pretty awesome. I figure I would go with her and test drive all the cars as well.
MAybe she can wait til fall? Shoot... maybe we can all wait. 2700lbs, 210hp and a DCT 6-spd.

I always thought the Mazda 3 was the closest competitor to the TC. The Kia Forte coup is right there too.

The Mazda 3 won't work. She wants a coupe and good looking. The new 3s look well retarded.
