Should I go drive tail of the dragon tomorrow?

I live an hour and a half away and have never gone. Should I go tomorrow? It will be the first nice Saturday in a few weeks so it might be crowded.

I am sure there will be a heavy police presence. They hide around corners, and there are a lot of corners. I did a run through right after Christmas before last. I had my wife and my dog in the 4runner. I followed the speed limits and took to the shoulder parking areas whenever practical and gave a point by if I had the speedy types building behind me. Got a lot of waves and friendly honks. It'd be fun at speed.

Do the Cherohala Skyway too.

Yeah. The skyway is less policed and less traffic. Do the skyway in the early morning before the fog lifts. Beautiful. The dragon...Eh....Traffic and police plus other stupid people were enough to make that not fun to me, YMMV.

Perfect. I was just about to suggest taking 28 down to the dam. It's my favorite road there.

Just did it. If I was an hour from it, I'd be there once a month, easy.

I was less than an hour from it and was there at least twice a month. If it was too busy I'd just pull off and walk up on top of a cliff and watch the show for a half a day or so. I do miss that part of living in East TN.

Looking on your map I would suggest the next time you use 360 to connect to Cherohala from dragon instead of staying on 411. Did it last fall and it was a nice section of road. Did it on Friday and there were no cops.

Didnt do Tail or Cherohala. Did this instead.

209 had 0 traffic was a 55mph/45mph speed limit and there was no law enforcement presence whatsoever. Only saw law enforcement on 321 near Gatlinburg

Gatlingburg was way too crowded since it is spring break. NC 215 is a nice road as well.
