I've decided I'm bringing it home to do it myself. Rock Auto has clutch kits for $100 or so. I'll sure have time since I don't have to teach for a couple weeks cause of Christmas break. The sucky part will just be working in the cold
I'll take it for a drive later this week when I can get it home from the shop and check for slippage. I know the clutch is tired but I hadn't noticed any real slipping and was hoping to get another 20k miles or so out of it.
From the clues you have given. Replacing the clutch will not fix your problem.
Your problem is in the release mechanism. As many have tried to tell you.

Where the line to the clutch master enters the cylinder itself. I'm not intimately familiar with that car's reservoir setup, but it is generally a small hole as it enters the cylinder that the master piston travels in.
Your problem doesn't sound like the clutch itself, unless the clutch disk is hanging up or something odd like that. Sounds like a hydraulic issue to me.
