So I'll start by saying I kinda of stopped paying attention to the transmission issues with the ND since I can't afford one and no popup headlights, but curiosity has the better of me.
Are you making it work with the stock tranny or using a beefier GM or other offering?
Pretty sure it is not stock. My guess is t56 just because Keith mentioned having a digital model of it.
Stock transmission, ha ha ha ha ha.
No.
T56 Magnum transmission built to our specs, the AAM diff out of a Camaro, custom halfshafts, CF driveshaft - the whole drivetrain is built to handle these power levels in a 4000 lb Camaro. It should have no trouble with a 2500 lb Miata.
If you can get CAN integration working for an LS swap into an RX8 all of a sudden all those practically dead RX8's will be worth something now...

Please keep us posted on the RX8 potential!
Any RX8 integration will be an accidental byproduct of the NC Miata work. The RX8 is not a target platform for us, so we're not working on it specifically. I'm not even sure there's one in Grand Junction.
I feel like there is enough interest on GRM to send you a test mule. A dead one is only a couple grand. Everyone kick in $50?

all day! I'd even be interested in simply swapping an NC miata engine into an RX8.
Just because it's the same manufacturer doesn't mean it's the same protocols.
Hell, we had enough fun trying to get a GM computer to talk to a GM car and they were made in roughly the same timeframe. Ended up farming that out to a specialist... all that I know (or really want to know) is the controller is not native to the engine, and the body control module is not native to the chassis either, but the daisy-chaining of compatible degrees of separation makes it work.
Hey everyone! Keith mentioned some people posting here wondering about the CAN solution.
As far as the older cars are concerned, a lot of things can carry over just the same once the information is farmed and understood. Not too big of a deal. Hopefully it's something we can work towards in the future. I'll be helping out with a LS swap into a BRZ in a week as well to finally get a good CAN solution for those vehicles.
Edit: If you are in the Dayton Ohio area I can help anyone with farming data :)
Topgears website picked this up
Maybe someone from FM could replace Evans next season?
Hope FM's servers are up to the task
Now that is cool.
Talking while driving is HARD! I've done a bit of it as part of a Mazda promo video.

Do you have a weight for that diff? All I can find is info about the AAM solid axle...
Next time we have one out I'll weigh it, but I'm going to estimate 70 lbs full of fluid.
