My magnetic autocross numbers got bent up and damaged, so I need to replace them. Apparently, in the last 2 years, the cost of magnetic numbers has skyrocketed. I really don't feel like paying $70 for a pair of numbers if I don't have to.
I've seen people cutting their own numbers out of magnetic sheets. Where can you buy these, and what do you need to cut them?
Michael's and JoAnne's, basically a decent craft store to DIY or a local sign shop to DIFY.

Oh, I for some reason didn't think to check at the "craft" stores. I went to Lowe's and they had nothing. Thanks!

I bought big sheets of stuff from McMaster Carr. Not terribly expensive and available in big dimensions. I got the thickest stuff they had because it seemed like it had the strongest gripping power, but the panels blew off at 70 mph or so, unfortunately. If you go that route, try the thinner material.
Or order it from Dick Blick (art supplies) I just got a piece 2x5 feet for something like $37 shipped. That's a LOT of numbers.
Also check office stores, they sometimes have it to make signs for commercial vehicles.
also check this

I use Lowes or Home Depot magnetic vent covers (in the HVAC section). I've also used the sheets from the craft stores. Vent covers are cheaper and marginally thicker. Use scissors or utility blade to cut. Our club has downloadable numbers and letters that I printed off and used as stencils. I spent about $10 and an hour of my time.
In reply to chrispy:
The vent covers I used blew off. I got some bulk from a sign shop.
I also ran the vent cover magnet sheets. One number blew off and the rest started to curl after 3 months and would not sit flat.
It's important with all magnets to keep them flat between events. I use my fridge and the sides of my dryer. Some of my numbers are over 10 years old.
ZOOM Graphics in Tulsa. 918.836.9666. Don't know whether they have sheets but the numbers are very reasonable.

I kept mine on the side of the fridge too. I noticed them curling till after a few +90 degree autocrosses so maybe they just don’t like the heat and being on a black car.

+1 for McMaster Carr
I got sheets that were white on the outward facing side, cut some numbers from funky shelf paper and was good to go.
I always bought mine from a local sign place.
