I saw a pinto dirt track car, and thought about a dirt track Miata. Not sure if MX5 would fit in the rules, but there wasn't always Spec Miata either. Anyone else ever thought about something like that?

The issue might come into the roof issues depending on sanctioning body.

There are plenty of Rallycross Miatas I would think if you could get 10 people interested you could get someone to allow it on track.

A few years ago there was an asphalt oval spec miata "series". If you search specmiata.com, i'm sure you'll find it.

I've been tempted to run mini stocks at my local asphalt track, but they have a no 4 valve engine rule. Is there a 8 or 12 valve head that can bolt to the b6 block?

The Festiva head should bolt on, though I'm not sure if the pistons will work or if the belt will hook up right. It's not like they cost much to try and find out.

According to http://members.aol.com/solomiata/MX5Engine.html all Miata 1.6 pistons non domed. So they should "work".

I thought the 323 came with a 1.6 8v version as well. (Only some rare MX3s had a SOHC multivalve version according to The Site)

Yes, there is a 1.6 8V SOHC motor in some Proteges and 323s.
