It is for those of us who watch it on the Telly (Brit for TV)

While I won't ruin it for those watching it on TV (I like to catch the episodes on TV when I can), that's not the real Stig.

That driver was there because the factory wouldn't allow anyone else to drive that particular car on the test track.

So the mystery still remains.

Ahh the mystery... Well it was fun anticipating who it was or if they would really reveal him. I was thinking it was going to be a gag with someone like Keara Nightly(Spelling?) or worse funnier Paris Hilton(since Jezzer liked to beat up on her a few seasons ago. But I was rather suprised when the helmet was removed! Now all we need are shots of Shumi chatting with the Stig, and it begins again!

Some say that he dreams about mufflers and awakes exhausted. All we know is that he's called The Stig.

Yes, the mystery remains.

Good show. I particularly liked the part about the wheel spin at 75mph...in a train.

With trains you have to remember that each wheel has a contact patch about the size of a quarter, and steel on steel doesn't make for high traction coefficients. That's why they have sanders to increase grip. It takes a deft hand on the throttle of a steam locamotive to maintain traction in the rain or with frost on the rails.

down here in southwestern Colorado we had a series of automobile based contraptions that ran on the narrow gauge between 1931 and 1951 that were called the Galloping Geese. The prototype was built from a 1926 Buick touring car. I'm vice-president of the Ridgway Railroad Museum and we have recreated this vehicle, and I can testify from experience that at 25 mph on a flat section of track, you can spin the drive wheels at will in high gear with just a slight nudge on the pedal. That's a very light vehicle (5300 pounds), and weight helps, but it's still really easy to spin the wheels on a steam locomotive in wet conditions.

Fire-breathing monsters - so cool!

I got a good laugh at the Stig driving the reasonably priced car, though.

And a Vincent Black Shadow gives me perpetual wood.

This has been my favorite show since I found it. May have to start buying DVD's. Steam train was awesome, Clarkson was dying it there, too funny.

This episode was the first one aired after the big fuss about "the Stig's identity leaked!" online over the summer. They'll keep poking fun at his "true identity". The reveal was a big wink at the audience.
