Yeah, saw that.
Supposedly it wasn't over the pictures' actual content, but the fact that they used the area for a "unauthorized photoshoot". I call BS.
Yes, heaven forbid that young engineering students associate designing and racing cars at school has anything to do with good looking female students. That would possibly allow women to think they can be engineers AND allow guys to think they can go to an engineering school and still meet girls. A fellow student and racer poses with the same clothes she wears at the school pool and they're punished?
Sigh. So stupid.

We were thinking about doing a calendar in somewhat a similar idea to raise money for our Formula SAE team since our school won't give us money.
Seems a bit of BS. Sounded like the faculty advisor perhaps had knowledge and the girl was part of the team - presumably made a choice on her own. The photoshoot w/o permission is bs distraction. I notice lots of sponsor stickers on the car - My guess is that they donate to the university for exposure. As a sponsor/donor, they should perhaps be pissed the school's actions are denying them what they paid for.
I dunno, I just got back from visiting my family in Canada. Based on the stories my sister tells me about the rules in the primary schools, I find this story 100% plausible. Something's gone wrong.
Political correctness is kinda like trying to pick a turd up from the clean end...
I have a hard time with the percentage of the population that goes looking for offense where none was intended. Then again, when I do find them, it IS kinda fun to bait them!
I heard about this.
If this happened to my team, I would be beyond livid. The fact that the university in question is reassuring the students that they will get full academic credit amounts to nothing more than a slap in the face. No one takes FSAE for the academic credit. If you want something academic credit, you take a normal Senior Design class, not the one that demands your entire life for two semesters.
Make no mistake, an entire team just lost numerous high-end job opportunities due to someone high up getting "offended." Many students, like myself, tailor their entire college career around the Formula programs, and if this were to happen, my past four-plus years would be for naught.
Apparently one of the main donors to the team and to the Faculty of Engineering from nearby Cambridge, On has told the University that they won't get another penny from him until this team is reinstated.
Good on him!
What a bunch of E36 M3

Would that be RIM (blackberry)? I hope so.
This is an embarrassment.

I don't think it is RIM, but you are right it is an embarassment.

what? you dont want the pretentious pricks from your school to have competition so they can win more easily?

They have not built it yet.
I'm just impressed they got a female student on their FSAE team worth taking pictures of in a bikini
