Looks like Eric Bana is the "Star in a Reasonably Priced Car"
where there is a gear head with internet skills, there is a way.
I have seen it as well, it was really good. It also made me want to start running tarmac rally.
Looking forward to this for sure. Finalgear.com is where its at for this stuff, always got it up real quick!
I wasn't blown away by Love The Beast, actually. It just kind of wandered, there wasn't much of a story arc. It needed a good editor. It's always good to have a gearhead on SIARPC though.
Actually, Eric's one of us. He's got some road racing experience as well as one and a half Targas. Should be reasonably handy behind the wheel. Ever wonder how you'd do on a lap of the circuit? He might be a pretty good indication.
Love the beast never lived up to the hype for me. Taking this further off topic, Truth in 24 is absolutly brilliant by comparison.
I don't think Love the beast was ever meant to be some awesome car movie, but rather a man telling the story about a car he has owned since his teenage days.
Sure it wanders, don't most of our automotive adventures wander? Heck my red car started life as a street car, then became a track car, then sat in the owners back yard for 4 years, then we got it and built it for the GRM Challenge, then it became a street car, then it became a local autocross car, now its on its next wandering path.
The movie struck me as decent because its something I can relate to. My red car has spent most of this year with no engine, I used to drive the car once a week to work and it made me smile. If I crashed the car I'd be pretty sad, not financially but because I've spend many evenings with my brother and friends working on it over a few beers.
Back on topic, you guys need to check out Clarkson's Duel. Not since the days of original Top Gear have Clarkson and Tiff appeared together on the same show. Tiff's comments to the Stig are just plain awesome.
Some say the last thing you raced was a BMW 330d
Some say Clarkson was quicker than you
Stig, just says Gits backwards
It didn't bother me that the car's history wandered around. That's to be expected. It was the story in the movie that simply wasn't very well done, with little direction. Heck, the most recent rebuild on the car wasn't Bana and buddies in the garage, it was a megabuck professional job. You know that will be the case if Bana decides to resurrect it too - he'll wave goodbye and write a check.
Gad. BBC-US is still nowhere near airing Season 13.
I'm just too lazy to d/l the torrents. I know I'll never watch them.
He was bloody good as Uncle Chop Chop aka Mark "Chopper" Reid! (NSFW) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XGAj2YDBnE8&feature=player_embedded
It seems you can watch it here, if you don't want to d/l anything. Quality isn't the best, though.
Thanks for the link Luke! To be honest, I was dissapointed with how little time they spent on that road once they finally found it. I would have liked to see more of it.
Hmmmmmmm. I can has road trip?
pretty good episode. I actually like it better when they do challenges, but throwing a challenge in with a new car road trip is kinda neato.
I actually kinda like the Dacia.
When is BBCA going to show this? I was all excited all day yesterday. Imagine my disappointment when there was NO Top Gear on. At all. All day. I cried.

Well, if they are on season 4 right now, i would assume in about 6 or 7 years...

BBCA's Top Gear airing is a JOKE. And not a funny one.
You get a shortened year-old version of what everyone else gets to watch. I'd recommend downloading the torrents using links from FinalGear.com or checking out that link above to stream it.
Lots of Dacia jokes, that was great. And the shots of the Romanian chopper pilot! Best shot of the show: the People's Palace overlaid with the sound of the supercars in the tunnels.
The sheer volume of rubber smoke in the BMW/Merc test was mind-boggling.
