When I was 19 my DD was a '78 F-150 4x4 pick-up with a large cap on the bed. The cap was a wood-framed, aluminum skinned affair with a door on the back and one odd feature: it was about 12" taller than the cab and dead-square to the oncoming air (instead of rounded like most caps you'll see). We used it to haul our band gear and friends to various hard-core punk shows in the area. I installed a pass-thru so people in the back could talk to us, but the height of the cap deflected air down and past the seal.

My solution: take a piece of plywood and some brackets made from 1" angle to make an air deflector that I screwed into the top of the cab. I'll ask my old bass player if he ever took any pictures of it. It looked terrible, but it did work.

Hey you wanted pics? I took the AE92's washer tank home today to repair some places where the tape started to peel and clean out algae that had grown while the car has been in the shop. First time I had to touch it in the probably 7 years since I did the repair.

Didn't get any pics but the pump seal has been replaced with a mighty gob of RTV. Here's the crack that the tape is holding in:

Repair's already done and I think it'll last another 7 years. I'll have to get a pic of the Samurai's washer bottle tomorrow.

I can just imagine what would happen when they bottom that car out across a RR crossing, speed bump, whatever, and a dozen tennis balls come exploding out from behind the vehicle.

Sure hope there's no one following close behind on a bike though.

that's just dumb. it's easier to just flatten the hard line before where it rusted thru and roll it back on itself so it doesn't leak.

I, eventually, found this on the Expedition after I replaced the rotors, pads and rear lines, then damned if they wouldn't bleed.

I went under the back of the Cavalier to look at an exhaust leak. Turns out there isn't much of anything but paint from the doors back so it made no sense to replace the exhaust. I cut a piece from a tomato paste can and secured it with JB Weld and some hose clamps. The car is silent once again.

My 1st engine transplant was a sb350 in to a Monza coupe. After buying the elephant ears engine mount kit and a funky shaped Milodon oil pan and pick up. There was no $$ left for a 17 year old to buy and exhaust system. Custom header place quoted $1400! So.....Flex pipe to the rescue. The Pittsburg seamed type. The whole system was flex pipe, to hold section in place I used hose clamps and coat hangers run along the sides. It worked long enough to pass inspection....the junk yard motor last only a bit longer then that....lost timing chain at red line...

My friend in high school had a '79 Grand Prix with a Quadrajet. It used to stall at stoplights. When it did, he'd pop the hood, run to the side of the car and carefully replace the nickle he had perfectly wedged in the carb to keep it running.

He never showed me how he did it. Like it was the secret recipe for Bush's Baked Beans or sumthin'.
