I have a brand new set of altimax snows I had mounted on a set of 15" Jeep yj steelies. I was going to use them on an old 1994 ranger that had 14" wheels. No fitnent problems. But then I for a good deal on a 2001 (mzr engine woot) ranger that has 15" oem tires. The Jeep steelies bind up against the calipers. The offset is about an 1 1/4" inches further out. So do I buy 1" wheel spacers? Wheel adapters? Believe it or not I'm having some difficulty finding a set of ranger wheels that are just cheap steelies. I don't want to pay 200 for wheels then another 80 to remount them... I may be dollars ahead to just sell the set I have, which are unused and buy a wheel and tire package from tire rack
wheel adapters are the solution. some people are not comfortable with that but I autocrossed a grand marquis with 1.5" and 2.0" wheel adapters and did not have any problems. I used hubcentric ebay adapters although the hub bore on the wheels (mustang cobra) were the same as the marquis so they were easy to find...

Cool. I'm not changing the lug pattern, and I'm not off-roading or anything either. Just a highway commuter and light duties like collecting mulch and carrying car parts and bicycle.
How does a self-service junk yard charge for a set of wheels these days?

Most around here want 40 or so per wheel!!! For steelies! Then the dismount and mounting uhg. I'd be looking at about 240 more. Seems I could sell a new set of mounted and balanced altimax for 450 or so... almost makes more sense to do that.
I found a set of bolt on spacers for my Ranger (1994) on CL for something like $80.
1.5" on the rear and 1" on the front. I had to relieve the back side of the front wheels slightly because a 1" spacer isn't enough to fully cover the factory wheel studs. Otherwise they're fine.

If you can get wheels and tires to Novi, I can mount and balance them for you. We've got Hunter machines at work and I've got shop privileges. ;-)
Would Explorer wheels work?

Spacers will probably mean you have to put longer studs in all the hubs. Adapters will be more expensive but have the studs you need in them already.

Heck yeah I could get them down to Novi! What time would something like that work out? I'll bring beer, or pizza or donuts or falafel or whatevs.
I'm picking up the wheels tomorrow! 40 bucks, sweet deal.
this weekend will be my only chance until 12/23, and 12/23 will be my last chance before 1/2. I got hit with a 3-day work trip this week and another one next week, both on almost no notice. Will work for JimmyJohn's!
