I'd prefer a coupe or hatchback, but I'm pretty impressed with this. I've gotten convertibles out of my system and didn't have much interest in an ND Miata, but I will certainly go take a look at one of these. I could see myself owning one.

You mean the glass stays put, but the roof panel slides in front of it and blocks the rear vision?

Press release says tear glass goes down when top opened. Glass and roof all stow behind the seats. No change in trunk size. I like it overall, but from some angles its not quite right. Interested. Maybe I won't hold onto my mazdaspeed miata forever after all.

Glass going down is even better news. Wow, good stuff.
It's a miniature, front-engined 991 Targa, but with a rear window that goes down and flying buttresses!
(pic of the buttresses)
I would have liked to see a true hatchback, but next year when I'm buying a new car I will definitely go to check this out (which I would not have done for a regular miata). A true hatchback I'd have money in hand. This one, will have to see how it looks in person and once someone puts some decent wheels, tires, and a mild drop on it.
Rear window: folds down with the top (like a PRHT), but there's an acrylic wind blocker that stays. It doesn't cover the whole opening, just the bottom edge.
Wow, so pretty, i was hoping for a solid roof but this is a good second best. Maybe in 20 years when they cost 4k ill buy one, until then, all yall rich bastards buy them up so i can have one! Haha
The general consensus seems to be it's a home run. Damn Mazda, you've done it again! Now if we can only figure out how to get some roll protection. I'm sure that Keith will be happy to make another 75 HP easily available to us.
If I wasn't on my phone I would have a long list of hotlinks to express my desire for this car.
What is the going rate for verious organs?
Doh.
And one day I'll tell you about my trip to the reveal. Normally you can't make it from JFK to the west side of Manhattan in an hour at rush hour.

Actually, I was driving with one of the City's finest.
Now, though, bed. It's been a long day.
On pricing, here is a 2008 options list for NCs.

This indicates almost a $2k premium on the GT, a $4k premium on the Sport. This difference is in base options on the PRHT package. I would imagine that Mazda is shooting for a similar price difference. So the guesses of $30k are likely right on with the base price where it is at.
