You ever wonder what happens to all those old race car bodies when the rules change? Yeah, us, too, and we were secretly hoping to leverage that unknown quantity to find a body for our ASA stock car chassis.
We originally hoped to wrap it in some sort of throwback uniform. Think Trans-Am or GTO from the ’80s or ’90s. …

If anyone wants to stop by this weekend just to lift these panels and feel how heavy they aren't it's worth it.
Go, you guys go!
And just why do you need a roof? A windshield, yes. Just LOOK at that profile in the picture of the body panels in front of the brick garage.
In reply to Noddaz :
The pic in front of the brick garage is me clamping the parts together for a teaser pic before loading up for delivery. Agreed, the body could probably run just fine with no roof, but the the complete beige Camry would not come thru.
That is one heck of a score.
totally fell off a truck. i saw it happen. JG was just being a good citizen by moving it out of the road.

And there’s no hot like roofless race car hot.
(Ask me about stopping for a red flag at Sebring in our yellow Miata.)
GRM goes racing in an automatic Camry, hah! Please wrap it beige.
Its a shame they didn't have an Altima version.

They're going for land speed records while wearing scrubs hitting the vape pen with a baby seat in the back?
This build is now very Grounded to the Ground.
I believe the modern term is Camry "cosplay".

Well, after all, this is Florida. There's plenty of Camrys here too.
Are you going to do the "camry dent" on the corner of the rear bumper cover? After all, this is Florida!
In reply to Floating Doc (Forum Supporter) :
Since the panels are carbon its going take a big hammer to make a dent.

I thought about that. You can do the same way as the headlights. It just has to look like one.

I'll cast my vote for a beige wrap as well. Perhaps Wurther's Original could be a sponsor. =D
Kidding aside, carbon is the way to go for body panels if the budget allows. I have a full widebody set for my Mk3 Supra, and I think the heaviest panel weighs something like... 3 lbs?
In reply to JG Pasterjak :
Only if you slow down, like during a caution, of which there will be MANY in the rain...
If it were an altima body it'd already have a busted fender. I swear they must come from the factory that way
Now should it use a 2JZ or one of their UZ series V8s? Or a Toyota NASCAR mill?
We somehow need to get the duster, camaro, and camry stock car projects together at the same place and time for a comparo. Three similar origins, three completely different approaches.
And another vote for beige.

Racing beige.
You know it the only option for this projects first outing. FiveStar used to have a tan primer that all the NASCAR vehicles would come to the Daytona testing sprayed in. I recall sitting in the stands on testing days watching the cars making laps to squeeze the last speed out of the cars. Now we do all that in the wind tunnel.
Oh yeah, I remember that. Cup cars in primer save numbers and maybe some sponsor logos. For free, you could watch from the stands.
