I'm finally back at it... laying out the next, and most daunting so far, phase of my Europa project: Wiring.
It's getting an MS3 pro and will only get minimal accessories. Unfortunately, power windows are included in that. My research has brought be across some 2 relay per window schematics, and although it's functional, it seems overly complicated.
Does anyone know what type of single relay can control the up and down of a power window? Alternatively, anyone have experience with one of these guys? Power Window Module
Necessary circuits:
- ECU power (dedicated relay)
- Fuel pump, (dedicated relay)
- Main relay powering:
- Brake lights
- WB o2 sensor & controller
- Coil packs
- Brake lights
- PiDash
- Radiator fan (relay)
- Intercooler fans (relay)
- Power Windows (4x relays?!)
See any glaring issues with the preliminary wiring setup? I'm probably forgetting stuff.
In the future, I'll need to add more circuits to make it a viable street car (wipers, headlights, blower motor).... but small bites.

The wiring on the amazon controller seems small for power windows... my understanding is that window motors can draw some real current.
Do you really need the module? Hit the wrecking yard for a pair of window switches and pigtails from something old, like a 240 Volvo. 12 volts in, ground out, two wires to the window motor.
Ignore this if the window motors have some sort of electronic stop and magic eyeballs and LIN wiring instead of just a pair of wires to run a DC motor.

I mean, you're probably completely right in that I'm over thinking it. It's an old Lotus, so there is nothing fancy going on in the motors.
Overthinking it is easier than actually getting off my butt and doing something... I'll see what sort of current the motors draw. If it's low, maybe just running it thru a switch isn't so bad.

Wipers? Turn signals or running lights? Any kind of heater/defroster blower? Radio? 12v power plug for accessories?

No relays in a Volvo. The switches are more than adequate, I'm sure. The only thing I've ever had to do is pop them apart and clean the contacts every decade or two.
If you wire them like a 76 model with the switches mounted in the center console, it gets even simpler than having the right window having a switch on both doors.
If you can put a new plug on your toaster, you can wire Volvo window switches.
And, the switches are the same for almost the whole run of 240s. Find a 244, pop the switch panel out of the driver's door, cut the wires a few inches down and you have everything you need.
GMT400 driver side modules are robust and easy to work with. We use one for the power seat in the racecar.
