Having just added a Mazda 3, I am about to sell my 99 Ford Ranger. My dad owned it from new and I bought it from him. It has 206k miles on it. Manual transmission, RWD, 4 cylinder, single cab, manual windows. Basically as basic as you can get. Southern car. Full maintenance records. Crappy DIY bedliner. Kenwood head unit with 2x Focal 6.5" speakers and sound deadening added in doors. Car prices are so all over the place I have absolute no idea how to price it.

Does the AC work? If so, $3k. I'd probably start at $3500.

No AC, $2500.

Hard to say without seeing it, but if it's rust-free I'd ask $1500. I love my '02 Ranger, but it has (Ohio) rust. It's my daily for the last 3 years, has 178.000-ish miles 3.0 auto -for comparison.

I'll add pictures later. It is in fairly good shape. Has dents and scratches from being used as a truck but no rust.

I'll post it for sale here first.

Eh, if it works well ask 4k, at least in my area anything that runs decently is going to be around there these days. You might not get it, but if you negotiate down the other guy gets to feel like he walked away with a screaming deal so everyone wins.

In this crazy market search FB and CL and try to buy the same thing withing 200 miles of your house. You may be surprised what the market is asking for similar.

Pre pandemic it was probably 2500-3000. Now it seems like 4k would be more like it.

I was seeing $2.8k for lower and $5k for higher in the 170k to 210k mileage range with 100 miles of me but I wasn't sure if people where actually getting that.

Anything under $5000 doesn't last very long in this market. That being said, the stick shift is going to be a big limiting factor. Roughly 15% of Americans can drive stick, but that demographic skews much older and many of them don't want to.

List for 5000 and sell for first cash offer over 4000. I sold my 2001 for 4500 in early 2021 5speed rwd model it had less miles but prices are way up since then.

Cough, that would be me - I'm old, and while I can drive a stick, no longer want to. My excuse is that the traffic is so heavy now that the mindless constant shifting sucks all the fun out of it. That's my story.
