My friend has a serious hard on for my LS1 swapped Porsche 951. I built the car as a time trial/dual use car and it's completely sorted. Custom welded rollbar, harnesses, recaro seats, etc, etc, etc.
My issue is, if I sell it to him what do I replace it with? I'd need another time trial car and I'd want something that I wouldn't have to spend a lot of time to prep.
Price range of $15-20k, that has to include necessary safety equipment (rollbar/cage, seats, 6 point harnesses) plus wheels/tires.
Parameters are either rear wheel drive or all wheel drive. Looking to compete in NASA TTC or TTB. NOT INTERESTED IN A MIATA! I don't like them, nor do I comfortably fit in them.
Choices that pop to mind are an Evo 8 or 9, Suby STI, E36 M3, maybe a 911 Carrera of mid '80's or 964 era or ???
c5 hardtop? still have your lsx power in a factory package

what about a 914-6?? Or are they too pricey???
LS-swapped FD, or keep your Porsche. There are no other options.
Lots of room under your budget cap for this:

LSx FD, LSx 951, LSx FC. That's pretty much it...
E36 M3. When the engine blows, LSx it.

Or e36 M3 with LS1 conveniently already installed. $17k OBO (not mine)

I would like to subscribe to your newsletter, goodly sir.
The E36 post is from last November, think he still has the car? A good 914-6 sells for high $20k's for a swap into the mid $30k's for an original car.
I'm having a tough time with this, because I don't think I can replace the car for what my friend probably wants to pay for it. If he offered me crazy cash, like $25k+, I'd just go buy a C5 Z06 throw seats/rollbar/harnesses in it and call it a day.
Other than that, I'd a little loathe to sell my car to get another LS swapped car since mine it totally sorted and I know that the swap was done the right way...
Help him build his own? "Get your own gd car!"

No clue. I've seen it listed in several forums. But, if you like the 951, don't sell it. As chknhwk wisely suggested, tell him you'd be happy to help him create his own. The swaps are pretty easy these days, given all the tutorials available online.
Or, send him to the norotors forum. There are several FD swaps for sale, almost all of which are sub $20k. He could buy one and be TT'ing with it this weekend!

Original 6s are too pricey (and way too slow), but a good, sorted 6 swapped 914 can be a killer car. Pop a 993 3.6 in one and, in the eloquent words of Jesse, "decimate all".
C5 Z06! Or just keep your 951.
You sell a car like that because you're getting out of the game or because you need the money. There are no other logical reasons.

C5 Z06 or keep what you have.
An LS1 Boxster would be amusing.

I know of an LS1 swapped 944 ready to rock and roll for sale right now.....

STOP THAT!
I do not need any more ideas on how to squander my children's education money.
