What's the current hot ticket for creeper wheels?

My old Craftsmen is dying, but it's totally fine other than the wheels. They have all lost the "tire" or whatever it's called. They sucked when they were new, they suck worse now. It's basically a big slidy mess now, with the wheels skipping and sliding whenever they feel like it. I'm a fix-it rather than replace-it guy, but the wheels I am seeing look like A: They cost more than a creeper and B: will increase the ride height unacceptably.

What's the hot ticket for those of us working in a suburban garage with no lift?

A plain white van never seems to go out of style. 
 

I bought 155# 3" wheels from Northern Tool for my rolling stool. They are 100% better than what was on it to start. A couple of pieces of flat bar to widen the stance also helped a lot.

The idea of widening the stance to reduce ride height while still using a large wheel never occurred to me. I'm embarrassed. Nice. Thanks for the tip.

I gave up on using creepers and switched to a cheap area rug. It's a bit warmer than cold ground, I don't get stuck on pebbles anymore, and when it gets dingy I can toss it. 

I'll give you my creeper if you are gonna be anywhere near Columbia. 
 

I stopped using them years ago. I find a big rubber mat to work better.

My wife just gave me this one for fathers day. It is also awesome. With the bigger castors off to the side, it's more stable, lower to the ground, and rolls better.

I love the large wheels cuz they don't get hung up on stuff. I hate getting on and off of it due to the big bumps at the corners. It looks like they now have a version with lower bumps.

+1 on no creepers. These harbor freight yoga mats work better than a creeper, enough cushion and give more room to work. Super light so you can toss it around, and you can roll it up to take to the track or autcross/rallycross venue. Cheap enough to toss if they get nasty, but they actually clean up incredibly well since its fairly dense foam, oil and coolant cleans off just fine.

I use moving blankets.  

Hammer Store moving blankets are my go-to. Most work I do is either on a slight incline in the driveway or the dirt, so creepers don't work anyway.

I'm also in the foam rubber mat camp.  I haven't used my creeper is years. Something else I need to get out of my house.

Cardboard. It has the advantage of being absorbent and disposable.

I've got some Energy Suspension wheels on mine that are more or less rollerblade wheels and ball bearings. They're kind of cool, but the problem with them is that they're so smooth that if the creeper starts rolling, it doesn't stop for a long time. Not ideal if your driveway has a slope to it.
