To clarify: the 100 hour rebuild is the maintenance interval for a 200+ horsepower Datsun 1200 A-series engine, not a  modern turbo engine.

From talking with a friend who does this stuff with the wrong kind of cars, a K24's service interval is 22 hours of road racing.  Which is a problem when you are in a 25 hour race, but fortunately the rest of the car has enough issues that you probably won't be racing 22 of 25 hours.

I won't tell that to my K24 which is at probably 200 hours of track time, after being a 70k mile junkyard motor, and shows no signs of slowing down.

Well, if that 400hp Miata motor is bolted to a Miata trans, I have to imagine its lifespan is < 100 hours of track time.

Ah yes. IIRC that's related to the BMC A series, for which there are many hand grenade recipes.

That's an urban myth. The Datsun A-series engine has no relation to the BMC engine.

The Austin engine made under license by Nissan is 4 generations earlier.

Interestingly, the diff gave out first on that particular car. But yeah, the driveline is on borrowed time in the turbo car. LS car couldn't break the trans if it wanted to.

Perhaps you can clear up an old rumor, that you can put a Datsun 1200 cylinder head and directly onto a BMC block without any modification. True, or no?

The 1200 head will not fit.

There are several differences; most notably the Datsun uses 10 head bolts versus the BMC 9 bolts.
