People have had rarer than I, but as far as my fleet goes the rarest one based on build numbers would be the 1988 Fiero GT 5speed.

Also, I had a new beetle Turbo S from 2002, I think 5000 made that year.

My 2004 Mazdaspeed Miata, number 1103 of 5,428 built. The next closest would be the '75 TR7, '71 MGBGT, and '78 MGB. Everything else we've owned have been mass-produced Hondas, Mazdas, & Acuras.

I forgot one. 1965/66 SAAB 96 Special sedan. All of the Monte Carlo running gear in a standard sedan. Easy to identify with the four bolt wheels. Only made in that time frame. Then the V4 came out.

My Olds Custom Cruiser. I doubt it'll ever be collectible, but at only 4,347 built in `92, it is a pretty rare sight on the streets.

Also, my FD is still sequential twin turbo, which is a rarity amongst the remaining cars out there :)

Probably my Miata--I had the 10th Anniversary Edition. But that wasn't all that rare.

Oh, we had a truck that was an 89 2500 Chevy with the long bed, extended cab, 2wd, and full HD towing package... with the most luxurious interior you could get at the time. That may have been fairly rare based on the option package, but overall not rare at all.

Wow that is a lot of cars that have passed through the hands on this board. No wonder we are all Grassroots. For me I have owned

1972 VW 411 Wagon with Auto 197? AMC Javelin Beige with 4 speed manual trans ( I should have kept that one) my current 1976 Porsche 924. Not as rare as one might think due to total numbers of the 924 built, but this is the first year of production and a European car brought to Canada by a military man.

I had a 1990 Acura Legend L sedan with the 5-speed, which was pretty rare, especially in 2013. Also, I always hear that Mariner Blue Miatas are and I have a first-year B-pack in Mariner Blue

Lowest production number, 2004 Mazdaspeed Miata. Had an third generation Integra GSR sedan, which were not common, plenty of coupes, not too many four doors. Rarest is probably my genuinely rust free 914.

Rarest I ever rode in was Plymouth. Guy I got the 914 from is a Mopar guy. He had a fair number of wing cars. He got a basket case hemi roadrunner convetible, 1970 as I recall, one of three made. He fixed it up and got 6 figures, paid $1000 for it.

I've had three "rare-ish" cars atleast by production numbers.

Apparently my 1994 Mercury Capri XR2 is one of 366 XR2's from that year, although I think the Reef Green color it wears was the most common for that year.

I had a 2006 Ion Redline, which they only made 1135 that year. It was also blue which was the rarest color of the year at 189, and had the Competition package, which made it rarer.

The rarest was a rotted out 1991 Geo Prizm GSi 5-door that I basically bought to part out. At the time, GM had a site where you could see how rare your exact car (options and everything) was by VIN#, and I remember this Prizm coming out as "1 of 1". I wish I still had the VIN# somewhere so I could look it up again. I want another one BAD.

What 527 330GTC's made right.

Only about 237 Inca Gold Prowlers and I have owned 2 of those.

~2300 Manual R8's.

247 Pontiac Mera's ever made. Only 80 or those were 88's to my knowledge and I have had two of those as well. These are seriously rare given the legal history.

1992 Subaru SVX LS-L : one of 5280 total SVXii sold in 1992. 1991 (3/1990 - first month in the US) BMW 318is: one of 9442 in 1990. Production data isn't available for my 1989 Caprice wagon, but I bet it is less than 1000 that year, since it was the last year of production and they didn't even produce the full year. The only math I have been able to estimate based on caprice production and percentage of wagons, it ends up around 780 station wagons for '89.

That's easy- and ironically my only currently drivable car:

1983 DMC-12 (best know as simply the DeLorean)- total production numbers estimated to be about 9,000 DMC-12s. 6,000 believed to still be around.

1990MY was actually the last year of the box wagon.

All mine have been rather pedestrian. An Accord, 2 neons, and a Civic. If you get into trim levels, neon #2 was an R/T sedan. The civic is an LX-Sport, FWIW.
