Mostly due to cost per HP gain. Banks stuff isn't cheap. Like buying Dinan stuff for a BMW.
Personally, I would get one of their kits since it seems they spend the extra time to really fine tune a kit for optimum performance and efficiency, vs just all out performance. Banks has also stated a pretty strict "no smoking" policy, which I agree with.
A truck billowing black smoke is basically the "fart can" of the diesel world.

Oh. There's a 91 e350 ambulance with 7.3 for $600 locally. I really want it. I have no practical use for it. I could use it on the babe rally, but I don't think I can actually go to the babe rally. Hmmm

Yeah I checked out their site and the kit was like $2k
I like the no smoking policy. I hate seeing a diesel rig puking out black smoke. I am kinda wondering if swaping in a 6.5 turbo might be a better idea?

Although I disagree to an extent, I also hate black smoke. Black smoke is a trade-off for peak fueling which has its place in racing, but not on the street. I would instead say that black smoke is the "overcammed small block" of the diesel world. It represents wasted fuel and EGT spikes, but in many diesels its a necessary evil for getting the proper amount of fuel at higher RPMs and also increasing the mass of flow across the turbine making it spool sooner. Modern computer-controlled diesels have little or no need for black smoke.
I do agree that black smoke = fart can from the standpoint of ambassadorship. Just as a fart can causes the general population to hate ricers, black smoke causes people to hate diesels. That is the last thing the diesel world needs is more misconceptions about pollution.

Then it has come down big time! Well then again, when I contacted them about the 6.2 turbo kit, it was just over 4k, but that was installed and tuned. They didn't like to sell just a kit 13 years ago.

If the banks stuff makes your diesel truck sound as good as the dinan equipped M5 I got to listen to earlier this year, I would say its more than worth it.

I posted on Facebook that black smoke is poor fuel control and nobody should be proud of it, and people on my facebook disagreed with me.
^cool story bro
I would love to build a '70s dually with a 2-stroke Detroit Diesel in it.

I always wanted to do that, then after watching the video of that guy driving the twin stick that goes with it I changed my mind. I'd confuse myself

Why don't they like my VW, then? It's slow, has no throttle response, and emits clouds of visible smoke too!
They must just be elitists because I can run it on $3.39 gasoline and not $4.15 Diesel...

Hopefully end of 2013/ beginning of 2014 I can get on that. I have too many projects now.
I like my diesel liberty..... kinda hard-ish to find though.
