Waaaayyy back in the Dark Ages (i.e. the late 1980's) I was in Atlanta for a funeral, left early Monday morning to go back home. I was on the 'ring road' over near I20 in 7:30 AM rush hour traffic, the speed limit was (IIRC) 65, I was doing 85 and little old ladies with blue hair were giving me the finger as they passed me. Even the cops seemed pissed at the black GTi with SC tags that was gumming up the works.
In reply to turboswede:
I was on an assignment in Alpharetta for about a year, hated the ATL traffic.
The hot setup was a monthly rental from Enterprise.
Thursday afternoon around 4:00 PM, leave the office, drive the rental to Sandy Springs station (park free!), take the train to the airport, and fly home.
Monday AM, fly in, hop the train, get off at Sandy Springs, drive 400 back to Alpharetta, work until Thursday, ....
Wash, lather, repeat ....
OR, If a rental car doesn't fit, then just grab a cab from Sandy Springs to Alpharetta or wherever.
Sitting on the train as we zipped by, watching the traffic was entertainment.
Weird experience..I commuted from Marietta to the city for 15yrs., and from Woodstock/Acworth for 5 more. After not doing it for a year and a half, I went down to have lunch with a friend of mine.
I can't believe I used to do that every day. I guess I had just gotten used to it.
Turboswede, one time driving through concord ca the traffic started to slow and some lady locked up one rear brake and did a complete 360* turn then just drove off like nothing happened. That was weird.

Did you meet a guy putting a weird motor in a Ferrari at an Autozon in Acworth last year? I met a guy there and we had a lengthy discussion about autocross and Corrados, just by chance,

This is what it's like driving on the NJ turnpike. You'll be in a pack of cars doing' 80+ mph and suddenly, the unmistakable face of a CrownVic approaches in your rear view doing' what must be well into the triple digits. Suddenly, the headlights disappear and all you can see is the windshield and an increasingly impatient member of NJs finest. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=V4XIUpQt0x0

Yeah! Was that you?
EDIT: If it was the one next to the Publix on the Glade Rd. exit, it was almost definitely me. I live about a mile away from the place.

That was me! I was buying Rover v8 parts because that was what I going to do before the Subaru swap. We'll have to get together sometime. I live off Logan rd, about a 1/4 mile from that Autozone.
