Those fire truck drills are big on Long Island. When I was a kid we would go and watch my uncle every few weeks.
Another drag race that's better than the worlds greatest drag race: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=REs2XGLZfq4
Ah, I thought you were talking about the other week where Speedycop (of LeMons fame) took all his oddball cars (including the Cessnavan and the upside-down Camaro) to Maryland Int'l Raceway and ran them all against each other on the drag strip :)

They showed up locally when I was in high school. One crew from LI had a '67 Vette; the driver faced backward looking out the rear window, the engine was behind him and the original engine compartment was the pickup box.
It left an impression.
Poopshovel VS Paintpimp.............................. BossHong VS 30000000mile Civic.................... I see sub 20's.. @ 74....................................... Anyone have the tandem bike drag on video?

Jeremy Clarkson recently said that the GTR accelerates so hard it a actually hurts, although he's usually full of hyperbole, I think he ment it literally.
I like the GTR, its not as elegant as its Skyline ancestors, and I wish it still had an I6, but if I were a trustfund kid, a midlevel stock broker or ect, I'd have one.

Why yes, i was actually on their facebook and youtube every day the entire week of Best Driver's Car. I actually thought the drag race was one of the least interesting parts, but when you have all those cars together it would almost be criminal not to do it, 'just because'.

When you're that flabby, it will.
Not sure why the Focus was included but I think each time they do this they toss in one or two cars that don't seem to fit. If memory serves correctly I think one year they had a Miata. Anywho, the GTR is just one bad ass car. I love them.
I just wonder why they didn't choose a 911 turbo to go up against it.....also, their 1/4 mile times are a bit off.

Quote from a passenger in my MG: "you have to love a level of acceleration that makes you nauseous".

Exactly. At least choose the top dog of each model if you are going to include it.
In reply to Feedyurhed:
They wouldn't have because it probably could beat it......considering after how Porsche debunked how Nissan got the GTR to run its Nurburgring lap time originally, there is definitely some bad blood there.
Man, people are the same everywhere. Motor Trend clearly states their criteria for who gets entry and who doesn't and are often kind enough to politely re-explain them in video, social media posts, and the reader's letters sections of following issues EVEN THOUGH it's a god damn broken record of people SAYING THE SAME E36 M3 YEAR AFTER YEAR.
Motor Trend does enough different kinds of competition that people who prefer a certain type usually get it at some point. That never seems to stop them from going around complaining about other competitions in a way that makes it sound like they're fuggin illiterate and cant and havent read the ubiquitous and consistent explanations that are offered before, after, and year after year.
Cliff notes: When you say "shoulda done this, shoulda done that" on something that's clearly and repeatedly been addressed without actually making an argument on WHY or HOW you think the criteria should be different, you just make yourself sound like the worst imaginable kind of backseat driver, that gives instruction on how to drive WITHOUT EVEN LOOKING OUT THE FUGGIN WINDSHIELD.
In reply to Vigo:
I'm confused by this rant......because obviously I missed the connection to motor trend and such.
Edit: evidently its a youtube clip put on by Motor Trend......that explains why they would rarely use cars that were close to the same level. They have always been prejudiced.
Well, just so you know "World's Greatest Drag Race" is a Motor Trend event that they do every year when they do their Best Driver's Car competition. The original link was to a Motor Trend video that was just re-played through another site.
See the edit.......either way, I gave up on MT long long ago for crappy tabloid worthy magazines they issued.

That was the longest 42.4 seconds of my life! I still get tired thinking about it.
But if anyone has video, I'd love to get a copy.
