A neighbor down the road here got a 70s Ford truck out of a yard that doesn't sell whole.  He talked to the manager and bought the cab, bed, and frame all on different receipts but took it out of the yard in one piece.  No title but he's doing a bonded title which is easy enough down here apparently.

This morning was another junkyard visit. First up was this 96 Q45.

Nice shape for a junkyard car. Looks like someone had taken a few things but the LSD diff was still in it.

Walking by the fenced off area for cars not out yet I saw this.

Those would be great wheels for a radwood Challenge car.

I guess wheels were the theme of the day as I found some wheel porn for Dusterdb13.

Then I saw this Mustang II.

Ginuwine Cobra I'm telling you.

Then I found a wheel donor for a certain Mercedes SL.

I saw an 80s 7 series so I started looking through it.  The four wheels were gone but the spare was still there.

Been a long time since I've seen a TRX wheel and tire.

Sometimes you see interesting decorations on cars.  I'm guessing mom was always on the passenger side of this Mercedes.

And this is how she became a mom?

79 RX7

Engine and trans still in it.

86 Supra anyone?

And finally what I call Robbie's engine donor row.

Made a run today since it's been dry for a bit. Struck out on accord parts but hopefully got a good airbag module for 94 Miata out of a probe (will see if it stops the blinking when my brother rolls by later)

Old GM truck right out the gate

Some other GM goodness

Corvair

Couple of 1982 EXPs

The probe mentioned earlier

Bimmer

Benz

My first car was one of these accords as a hatchback, same color

And a notch back (4 cylinder) mustang that didn't get turned into a circle track or drag car

Interesting that you guys have things we don't see down here.  I haven't seen an EXP in forever much less a junkyard.

Honestly I haven't seen one in years so was kinda shocked to run across 2 a row apart. Both stickers were long dead so probably someone had them dragged out of a yard somewhere.

This morning I went to the yard I hate because apparently I love Dusterdb13 enough.

This is all I took in with me.

We were on the search for a cup holder.  First Mazda6 was too new but the second one was perfect.  Even better someone had already been taken the interior apart so I didn't even need the screw drivers.

Tada!

And that was my easy day in the junkyard.

I'd be down for those stylin Mazda wheels if you can snag them reasonably

I headed to the yard today to get a r200 diff for Stu's TVR.

First stop

Sorry but I took a bite before taking a picture of breakfast.

Got to the yard expecting the only 96 Q45 to be the burgundy one from last month but instead it was this white one.

Got under it and immediately saw that that diff had been under mud.

Decided to pull it and open the case but I couldn't break the two rear nuts lose. They even laughed at my Milwaukee impact.  At that point I made the executive decision that if the bolts were rusted that bad I didn't trust the diff. I'll have to find him another one.

Went wondering around. Someone pulled the engine from this Bug. Just a little sketchy.

I ended up pulling the QJet from this 69 Cadillac 472.

And that was my morning in the junkyard.

Today's goal was to experiment with Nissan/Infiniti Legos.

In the very first row I saw the back of a Miata. Go to look at it and it very quickly gave up it's headlight surrounds.  Now if I only knew someone that needed them.

Today's target was only a couple of rows over. This 2006 Infiniti M45.

Goal was to see if the trans output yoke could be swapped with a normal u joint yoke from a G35.  This has the same trans as the 2002 Q45.  Also the same engine but I notice that the intake is different. This one comes in at the front.

Here I am half way to getting the driveshaft bolts out.

All the bolts out and driveshaft out of the way. I had to take out the Y pipe and a crossmember to get room. Lucky the yard had taken out the cats so was pretty easy.

One 32mm nut on the trans yoke and I'm hoping it'll slide right off.

And disappointment.  No sliding right off. Had some play so I'm thinking a snap ring inside the trans.  Well that sucks but at least we know.

I started to leave but decided to take a walk around.  Saw this 2003 Saab 9-3.

Manual trans even.

Turbo still there and the ecotec engine.  This is one I wish I could have gotten before it went to the yard.

Someone in the Ford section got creative in making shade.

Noticed this 69 Impala last time but forgot to check it out.

Still had the original high beam T3s. Too bad Dusterdb13 told me no to T3s on Nader.

Went over to the old car section and saw this 76 Dodge Aspen. I don't give enough love to you Mopar guys.

Good old slant 6 engine.

Guess the PO wasn't committed 100% to the Mopar lifestyle.

That ended my day in the junkyard. Just that little bit sucked the lifeforce out of me. Think I might be done until the fall.

Hit up the junkyard for the first time since the pandemic started (IIRC) yesterday. I went looking for a 4bbl Mopar intake for the Power Wagon, but they only had intakes of the 2bbl variety. It was really hot out, so I didn't stay very long, but I did snap a couple of interesting pics:

I haven't seen an early 80's Celica or Supra on the streets around here in a long time. I loved these as a kid, especially the Supras because pop-up headlights were (and still are) the coolest thing ever. These two have been hanging out here for years, and I always walk by them to pay my respects on the way out. I posted this in the Radwood FB group and a guy said he's been picking parts off of them for years, so at least they are keeping existing cars running.

It took all of my will power to walk away from this without asking about it. The yard has an area with potential project cars they sell whole, and this was sitting there, waiting to be plucked from the jaws of the crusher. I love big ol' American Land Yachts of the GM variety, especially the Olds and Caddy flavors. While this one could be made nice again, it would be way more fun to do something insane with it. I'd build it as a Gambler 500-style prerunner sedan, complete with a mild lift, A/T rubber, lots of lighting, and working A/C and go bombing around everywhere. I really need to finish my project cars so I can play with new ones.

If that Miata good was aluminum and in good shape it's worth a pretty penny I think. Esp for the SM guys. Same with the turn signals and bumper...

Wish you had told me before.  I was in that yard yesterday but it was a quick one just for brake line fittings.  That 9-3 still shows in the yard so I'll see when I get there next.

If the cup holder is still in that 9-3, the one beside the shifter, I would not mind having it.
