I went out for 25 miles of social distancing today. I saw no other cyclists anywhere because I am apparently the only person in Texas who has a proper rain bike.
I did however see a number of people out walking or exercising their dogs. They all looked taciturn and obviously lost in the own heads. I forced every one of them to acknowledge me by hailing them with a cheerful "G'day to you". That seems to help. People need to interact. Get this E36 M3 off you mind even if it's just for a second. You're not alone in this world even if you are 6 feet away from everyone.
I'm glad I'm still going to work and am busy. I don't think I could sit home all day and worry about what's going to go wrong.
I'm trying to keep as much of my life as normal as possible since that's always helped keep my anxiety under control. I've got the house well stocked, the wife has her office set up so she can stay put, and I'm trying to avoid people as much as I can. In case something goes wrong the Jeep is fueled and packed so the wife and dog can go elsewhere.
The empty city is very eerie. I was at Penn Station watching the morning rush Friday and practically no one came through.
It's been pretty much business as usual for me other than the lack of traffic due to the WFH crowd and schools being closed. I spent the last couple of days working on the Lemons car with the team. We are all pretty much family as it is so...
My son went to Lowes yesterday for some bolts. They were completely packed. Apparently work from home means work on home projects for a lot of people around here. There were 30+ people at the paint counter waiting for paint and the register lines extended down the isles.
As far as getting the virus. There is a pretty good chance that will happen with me being constantly in and out the local hospitals. To be honest with you, I'm not too worried about it. My immune system is pretty robust so it does a pretty good job of killing whatever the current illness is. If I happen to fall into the small percentage of the population that the virus kills, so be it. I've had a pretty good run. The odds of getting killed on the way to work in the morning are much higher and I take those chances 5 days a week. I'll keep washing my hands and keeping my germs to myself, and let the cards land where they may.

I feel ya there. I'm currently working on two midtown Atlanta high rise office projects. One is still blasting rock for foundations and the other is at month 12/28 and the site averages 400-450 men on the site. If the latter project has to stop I feel pretty good that it will restart, so I take some comfort in that much.
The city stopped inspections last week and the governor will very likely drop a shelter in place order soon. So I agree that it's coming.
