Looks just like my old one. Fun car. Had the World Class T5 which is supposed to be stronger.

Wow. I wonder how many pounds of boost you need to run to wake up a two-ton turd.

Pretty cool car, but I can't help but feel that a twin-turbo V8 would be a better fit.

I love these and their Fox-Body Cougar siblings. Yes, I'm still talking about cars.

I noticed a Turbo Coupe up on jack stands not too far from my house. Looks like it's been that way for a while. I want it.

There was a Turbocoupe in CP at Nationals that was very fast, and still driven on the street. Looked like a whole lotta fun to me.

I had one of those. It lived a short and troubled life. I bought it for $300 in $1 coins from a garage that was going out of business and they were selling all the random cars that they had aquired. Pushed it 2 blocks home with my Dakota and 2 buddies. Bought a bunch of parts including a T3/T4 turbo, but it still never ran. My apartment complex got wise that it was a non-runner after a couple months, so we loaded it on a produce trailer and hauled it to the closest Mustang performace shop around. I had intent for them to fix it, but a guy made an offer on it before we put a plan together for it, so I took the small profit and ran.

I guess that guy never figured out the gremlins either because I saw it in the junkyard a couple years later. Still had some of my stuff that I forgot to take out of it.

I'm gonna have to buy one of these someday. They are great looking cars.

An Ecoboost would be nice under the hood.

Per the results from Nats last year, Car owner is Ethan Bradbury, he was in 12th place in CP. It is an 87 model TC. I don't know much more than that.

I was wondering if it was that guy. I stumbled onto his build thread a while back, I'll see if I can find it again.

He has some REALLY impressive fab work in that car! I like what he did with the forward mount of his torque arm. Instead of having a bolt or rod end in single shear he fabbed up a little two-arm pivot device.

they are actually pretty peppy cars.. i think some of them got 3.73 gears, so that helps a bit.

Auto's got 3.73's and manuals were 3.55's in a 94-98 SN95 width housing on 4 lugs.

These cars are not that heavy. My nephew bought one for $1300 and once we disabled the waste gate, it had the IHI turbo and the not T3 of the earlier models, it would build about 20 lbs boost. It kept him happy. His previous car was a Mustang V8. It got high 20's MPG. The only reason he got rid of it was the hydroboost system started to leak and he just didn't want to deal with it.

5 lugs are an easy junkyard swap and really opens up wheel choices.

I was with my dad when he test drove one "back in the day", A test drive that ended up with a tow truck extracting us from a ditch. Nothing dramatic, the rear of the car slid in as the shoulder gave way when doing a u-turn. Awesome car -- but I suspect my dad was so embarrassed by the whole situation that he didn't want to go back to make an offer.

We ended up with an '83 Accord (5 spd). Probably a wise move, and likely having the Honda instead of a Thunderbird saved my 16 year old self.

I've seen that car locally. It goes pfft...pfffft....pffft... I was surprised the first time I saw it that it was a turbo 4 and not a 5 point oh. Thing is, I don't remember it being especially fast. Might be the difference between a national-style course and our tight parking lots.
