I can't figure out if I'm pretty good at not opening threads that seem contentious, or if I'm one of the contentious people.
I understand I was kind of whiney on my R63 thread, and I appreciate being called out on it, but if I get worse that that, someone please let me know.

There were a couple posters who got into a spat and it verged on personal insults. And a couple other threads got locked due to being likely to take a bad turn. There were like four or five locked threads spread all over the board, all on the first page a couple days ago. Nothing at all to do with you.
Yep, nothing to do with you. Just... shiny happy people. Being shiny happy people.

Ok, thanks. There are always a couple of threads in off topic that I can tell by the title I don't want to bother opening. After enough time on here I get a Spidey sense about them.
I sent this in a PM to someone I was having a conversation with in a thread that was locked the other day. I still feel the same way so I'll post it here since we are having the conversation.
"I knew that thread wasn't going to last very long:p Years ago, when I first started lurking on these forums I had it all figured out, I was convinced my way of thinking was correct and anyone who disagreed with it was an idiot. I'm stubborn but eventually, over many years of making myself look like a fool I've come to realize that I don't know everything and in fact have been wrong more times than not. I see things more in shades of grey now instead of hard and fast, black and white rules. We used to get into deep discussions about all the worlds problems on this forum, we can't do that anymore. I value the opinions of the people on this board and I'm sure there are other places on the internet where I could get into stupid arguments over things in which we really have no control over as individuals, however, I wouldn't value those strangers opinions the way I do with the GRM family. While many of us are still technically strangers, I've had daily interactions with the members of this forum for over ten years, you get to know a persons personality and intellect and that means something. I feel like I've grown as a person, reluctantly at times, due to the members of the GRM forum. I kind of miss the way it used to be."
Please note that I am not bitching about the forum rules, I understand why they are the way they are and try to fully abide by them. What I am saying is there have been several things I've read or heard about and thought it would be an interesting discussion to have with this group. But, knowing how those polarizing issues can quickly digress in unintended ways I abstain from posting them. Like I said above, the conversation here, with all of you people, means something.
I wish there was a place for us to discuss stuff like that. I'm not sure how many people from here would go to another site to talk about the taboo subjects from here if someone were to have a place for us to go. I really have no interest in talking about such things with any other group of people.
I thought this thread was going to be about that 80's movie with that wedge, Vector like car... but that was 'Black Moon Rising'...
That would be a good use of the rest of this thread.

I was expecting more misheard lyrics. My favorite is the BeeGees How deep is your love. I always thought "When you come to me on a summers eve" was "When you come to me on a submarine". I still think mine works better.
Excuse me while I kiss this guy.

Ahh mondegreens, gotta love them.
Slow moving Walter, Fire engine guy.
We've got to hold on, to what we got. It doesn't make a difference if we're naked or not.
Bingo jet had a light on....don' carry me too far a way.
Blinded by the light, wrapped up like a douche, another lady of the night.
Being naked would definitely make it easier to hold on.
I don't want a whale in a box or a bag. And I know, yeah I know I don't wanna shave.

Brilliant! Those are the the best lyrics I've ever seen for that song!
In the end, yeah, just be nice to each other. That's all--be nice. We're here to be social. Why not be polite, too.
I don't mind people disagreeing with each other. It's okay to disagree. It's the disrespecting that gets threads closed down. (Hint: Name-calling will usually get a thread closed.)
Anyway, I don't have any misheard lyrics to add. I think you guys nailed it.

I LOLed when that old beee (Aunt Bea) showed up. I like that song and it is like an early REM song in that you can just make up the words as you sing along.
