My wife and I just got back from a little weekend getaway while Grammy had the kiddo, and we used one of our two free days to run around Busch Gardens Tampa like teenagers and ride all the rides. Thanks to some less-than-optimal morning weather, we were able to enjoy pretty much everything several times over in the span of just a few hours in the morning.
I love roller coasters. My favorite park is Cedar Point in Ohio; Millenium Force and Top Thrill Dragster are both insanely exhilarating, and in both cases they were the first of their kind that I ever experienced (90-plus mph hypercoaster and cable-propelled drag-launch coaster, respectively).
Florida is know for its theme parks, but frankly I think the state falls short on cool coasters. I want something unique in a ride. The Hulk at Universal is pretty good with the rising tube launch, but it's too short and the line always sucks. I think my favorite Florida coaster is BG's SheiKra, the dual hang-and-drop hills and insane down angle really replicate the sensation of soaring and diving for prey. Plus, the super-wide arrangement makes every seat awesome, though the front row is the way to go.
What's the best standout coaster in your neck of the woods?

We've got Six Flags about 5 miles from home. All sorts of good ones. I've only been there 3 times though, couldn't really tell you much about them. They're fun though!

T'is my back yard.
Millennium in blue, Top Thrill in yellow.
Schock 35 in white with red sail. (T-ten ahead)
Also seen from a greater distance during the "hard water" months.
I can not see them from my house but if I make a right out of the driveway, when I come to the first stop sign, I can see them off in the distance.
Way back in the day, 'Kumba' at Busch Gardens was pretty awesome.
I like the old wood coaster I rode in Cali, it was just so different.
The soon-to-be-closed 'GM Test Track' at Epcot is the best non-coaster ride.
Space Mountain was always cool.
I live pretty close to Six Flags Magic Mountain (Valencia). Probably one of the best coaster parks in the work (there are a LOT of them there). My favorite is probably Goliath. Very tall and fast. They actually had to slow it down because people (very wimpy or course) where blacking out on it.
They currently have 17 full sized coasters, only 3 of which are junior coasters:

The Thunderbolt (Kennywood Park) in Pittsburgh is a classic Wooden coaster. VERY COOL!
I also liked a few of the coasters at Hershey Park (Hershey PA) near Carlisle PA.
I have ridden (rode?) 52 roller coasters at last count.
My group of friends call themselves the Roller Coaster Cowboys (men and women).
I work about a mile from Hersheypark...but I don't do rollercoasters, so I have no idea what the best one is. They are building a new one, though. The parts are strewn about the field across the road.
I live in Ohio...YAY! IMHO, the best coaster at Cedar Point is the Mav!
Six Flags over Texas in Arlington is my closest park. The Titan is pretty fun. You can't count out the Texas Giant either. Largest wooden coaster. If you've never ridden a wooden coaster it rattles your brain.
We rode the Maverick at our last visit to Cedar Point, really awesome ride that proves you don't need fastest/tallest status to make a great roller coaster. I still call "no fair!" that Cedar Point has so many awesome coasters in one location. You guys never learned about sharing?

I went to Cedar Point this summer and rode all the coasters and was too worn out to ride the Top Thrill Dragster.
When I was a kid I loved all these coasters. As I get older I seem to enjoy them less. Those older wooden coasters at Cedar Point really beat my brains in.
I enjoyed the Rock and Roll Coaster in Orlando a few weeks ago.......although it was a bit lame, I still enjoyed the whole production with Aerosmith.

Fahrenheit at Hershey Park. /thread
Michigan does wooden coasters
There are so many good ones. Highway 550 is an easily accessible one.
The Targa Simulation Road does pretty well.
the Intimidator @ carowinds is pretty great
so is what used to be top gun and the borg assimilator
when we were staying in Orlando I like the hulk and dueling dragons a lot
wife wants to go to cedar point really bad
I have to say that Millenium Force is the best roller coaster I have ever been on, and the thing that really disappoints is that the closest park to me is Dorney Park, in PA. The biggest kick in the nuts is that they are actually a sister park to Cedar Point, but get none of the fun roller coasters. They currently have two copied coasters, iirc, both built years after their counterparts in Ohio.
Haven't been to Hershey park in 5-6 years, but closest fun park is Six Flags in NJ. They have a Kingda Kah which is top fuel dragster like, so at least I got to experience that style of coaster.
I live in Ohio, so, yeah...
+eleventy-gazillion for the Millenium Force. I visted Cedar point a couple of years ago on a cross-country trip from L.A. back home to Mass. I liked that coaster so much, I rode it three times!
We have a Six Flags with a coaster that's been called one of the best in the country multiple times. It's called Bizarro (used to be called Superman: Ride of Steel). I've been to Six Flags New England about 4 or 5 times and I've never ridden on the Bizzaro coaster even once because the lines are always stupid-long.
Just to prove the awards:
The Ice side of the Fire & Ice coaster at universal is my favorite. Luv the zero g roll. The que is very cool also.
Rock N Roller Coaster at Hollywood Studios is another favorite of mine.
Sad to hear that GM Test Track is going to be closed, I still haven't had a chance to ride it. The last few times I have been to disney it was either down or we didn't have time.
I used to live fifteen minutets away from Kings Island. My favorite there was The Beast, Son of the Beast is just way to rough. My all time fav is Top Thrill Dragster, so awesome.

GM Test Track - my kids (8 and 10 at the time) both said it was boring, and riding in the car with me was more fun I was bored stiff.
My original state included this gem
It is as much fun as it looks
I grew up with this one. Still my all-time favorite. Supposed to be closed soon.
And who can name this glorious piece of steel?
