That's a small Detroit Diesel, should have started with a 20v149, 2980 cid of 2-stroke Diesel power. 24V71 is "only" 1709 cid. Still would be cool to see it run once it is all together, it makes a little more power than our cars. 
Meh..... Cool I guess, but that guy needs to calm down. I've seen many unlimited class Reno radials make far more power with with far less complexity, glitz and tinsel. And, fuel motors are making damn near 3 times that much power out of 66% less cylinders.

What they don't tell is the torque that engine produces. Being a 2 stroke, it gets twice as many power strokes as a 4 stroke per revolution. They were very popular for generators because they don't bog down when electricity usage quickly increases.
It would be even more powerful to use a 92 series, though, but Detroit Diesel may not have made a 24 cylinder crankshaft for a 92 (not sure, though.) A 20V149 (I don't think they made a 24V149 crank, either) would have weighed more than a steer axle could have handled. Let alone seeing around it to drive!
