Weird thing is, I live many hours away from there. I first met the guy at a local auto parts store, saw a Cosworth Vega in the parking lot and had to walk up and have a chat. He had a Plexiglass valve cover

WOW I remember this day. It was awesome event. And I see a few GRM Dorks in here... that's eastsidemav's Corsica, wae's (and Ken whose-forum-name-I-forgot's) all conquering CRX, more whose names I've forgotten but the events are still there in my memory, people who I haven't seen in forever, the dude in the Tacoma would drive down from Michigan to hit our southern Ohio events, jeez this was nine years ago already??

No idea. But it is funny, when I showed up with my new shell in '08 or '09, Ken said "Oh so YOU are the one who bought it!"
It was on eBay for like $1900. Then $1700. Then $1500. When it got down to $900 and still zero bids, I bought it. Ken was waiting for $700

That was the event where I got about a bale's worth of hay wrapped around the driveshaft and I had to hack it out with a Leatherman between runs. Some of the hay got under the pinion seal and destroyed it. I did what I could, but the diff ran dry on the way home and burned the pinion bearings up real bad.

Mostly I miss Dan's Deli. $7 heart attacks delivered in aluminum foil wrapping. The only thing better than a gyro from Dan's for lunch was a gyro from Dan's late a night on the first day of a two day rallycross.

Ford is increasing chassis strength on the 2017 Ford Raptors in order to compete in the stock class of the Best In The Desert series. They are also putting some beefier suspension on those trucks, too. Several sites have covered the changes.

Maybe if they tried making them about 2 tons lighter, they wouldn't fail so hard at driving on rough terrain?
I can't understand the mentality of wanting a full size truck to run hard off-road. I mean, yeah, anything you buy at Harbor Freight can and will become a hammer, but they also sell hammers there too, and they work better as hammers.
